I predict each new version will get a little slower as more and more stuff gets hung on the kernel.

Each new version, of course, brought new features.  For a long while those new features suited me, but lately not so much.  I don't think I changed, not since Windows 8, I just think Microsoft decided to concentrate on things other than improving the state of the art in operating systems.  Easier things.
