Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition IE

I've tried Internet Explorer 6.0sp1, but it gets stuck at requesting to go into install mode. I click ok and it doesnt proceed.

Does anyone have a link to the latest install for internet explorer for Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition?

If I remember correctly (on normal NT 4.00, this may not apply to Terminal Server) you cannot install IE6 directly, you need a configured browser(IE 3 or 4?) to install, or (again cannot say specifically for TS) use a "special" set of switches:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/257249

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/223371

Anyway try the ones our friend sdfox7 made available:
http://sdfox7.com/ie.htm

they should be "self-standing" and self-contained" (though whether Terminal Server is in any way different is another story).

You have the latest Service Pack installed, right? I believe you have to have at least 3 or 4 before IE6 will install.

I'm reinstalling wtsrv4 and I am going to pick ie4 setup, then try ie6sp1 when I'm on the desktop.

I've successfullyinstalled ie4 from a fresh install.

wtsrv4 still will not go into install mode when trying to setup ie6sp1.

My version comes with SP3 already.

I am going to try Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack: http://www.henry.k12.ga.us/techservices/files/virus/nt_opt_pack/setupcd/winnt.srv/default.htm "exe file is corrupt ! :("

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was reading http://www.betaarchive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26959 .

[*]Install Windows NT 4.0 (original)
[*]Install SP3
[*]Install IE 4.0 (included on the SP3 CD)
[*]Install the Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack (optional)
[*]Install SP4 for Windows NT 4.0
[*]Install SP6a
[*]Install IE 6.0.

Get offline IE6 package here:

I've gotten ie6 no sp1 installed! ie 6sp1 is next.

You need to type the following command in cmd.exe

change user /install

I've never had to do that, but glad you got it working! One of the main things I always do after a fresh Windows NT 4.0 install is update the service pack to the latest possible version. I think my server version comes preloaded with SP3 on it but I can't remember offhand.

Just to let you know, the Windows 95/NT Windows Update was taken offline over five years ago. The original page was http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/Static_w95/V31site/default.htm

If you are running plain NT 4.0, you can access the updates here: ftp://ftp.uni-rostock.de/pub/tools/microsoft/ServicePacks/NT40/us/
