So I have this error in my debug.log...

[2016-09-18 19:48:00][0x6C8:0x46BC] Donation.key: invalid signature.

My donation.key is the same one I've used on all previous versions of Aero Glass on this machine and the Machine Code that was used to generate this donation.key is the same one that AG gives me when its first ran.

Any clues?

Edit: Forgot to mention, I finally got back into my donator account. So happy about that. :D

Edit 2: I'm dumb. Machine code was not the same. Generated a new one and I'm all set.

Thanks but still doesn't take the colour away. I've tried so many different options using areoglass reg. Hope bigmuscle updates the gui tool soon.

Have you tried using AeroGlassGUI to set the color to black and then changing the opacity for the main windows to 0% and the opacity for the background windows to around 1% - 3% [also making sure to have the inactive windows set to use the black color using color balance] That worked for me when I tried.

It's exactly what I mean... Two completely different advises (yours, dacrone, probably correct one).

P.S. Hmm, after few tries and reboots I still have:

- incompatibility issue dialog

- nasty label on my desktop (but I already donated 10 €)

You guys still called it release? You are lucky ones, I can tell you :D It's an easy to live with that confidence...

You shouldn't use that installer for this version. It uses old registry entrees that are no longer valid in Windows 10 RS1. There currently is no actual official 'installer' for v669. There are some people made elsewhere [if you'd rather use an unofficial leaked installer] but going by what you're asking for you'd be better off waiting for the actual installer to be added to www.glass8.eu

It will most likely be placed onto the main page as soon as it's completed. As for the incompatibility message, you'll get that no matter what you do since Microsoft is an a**. Just click cancel when it pops up and you'll be fine. It still works despite the incompatibility message [Microsoft's cumulative updates cause that to show up every time BigMuscle manages to fix that so it's likely going to be an ongoing thing].

As for the label, that will only be removed in official installers. This doesn't count as an official release and donations don't remove the label in testing builds or unofficial releases.

I've already posted after that. That I had found the solution.

Anyone know how to get Black Glass Enhanced to work properly on build v669? I'm getting tons of particles left behind when I drag my windows.

Yes , had this too so after several tests I 'm using both Black glass enhanced with system transparency.

Didn't found any info about it ATM but working here under 14393.187 and aeroglass pre release 669

Ah, I see. ok thanks. Also I notice you're also having the issue with the navigation bar's colors not going full transparent either [the black parts on it]. Here's to hoping a working fix comes around.

Did it ever happen to anyone that when turning on PC (after default hybrid shutdown), Aero Glass wouldn't work properly? DWMGlass.dll is injected, window frames have glass effect, but custom theme atlas isn't loaded and neither there are new entries in debug.log for the current session. I logged off and back in and it works now. Also had it happen once when logging in via Remote Desktop, reconnecting fixed it.

I personally would not choose to use any kind of hybrid shutdown or power saving mode myself.  It's never been a solid, trouble-free feature of Windows, and a full shutdown / bootup simply doesn't take that long.  That said, the above certainly doesn't apply to RDP connections.

The entries from your debug.log in the AeroGlass directory around the times of the failures would, I'm sure, be interesting for Big Muscle to see to try to investigate further.

I'm aware of reputation the power-saving features in Windows have, fortunately, there haven't been any significant problems related to them on my configuration. I just got used to those 15 seconds from boot logo to login screen. if I remember correctly, that's approximately how long Windows 7 took to cold-start few years back on this machine. Things have gotten a bit slower in that regard with later Windows versions.

Either way, I doubt this glitch is related directly to power-saving features. There must be some strange condition occurring on my PC (it's very rare) that sometimes make Aero Glass unable to initialize properly when DWM starts. Note that logging in via Remote Desktop starts a new DWM instance. Strangely, the log file isn't even touched, so I assume if even those messages that regularly show up in the log don't appear, I doubt anything would appear with verbose logging enabled either.

Hi BigMuscle,

Just would like to know, when will you plan to release the installer verison?

Thx for your efforts!

Don't look now but I think it's going to be 2 months from now.

On Sept. 15, 2016 bigmuscle said the quote below in another forum.  In response I suggested that he could move things a little quicker by first writing an installer for the 64-bit (since that's pretty much finished) and then work on the 32-bit (since very few users are still on 32-bit and because I also understand a 32-bit version is more difficult to produce).  I have yet to receive any response.  I know that bigmuscle is sensitive to criticism but if this is the timeline I think it is a valid criticism that not releasing a final that can be seamlessly installed for three to four months after a release by Microsoft is a bit on the long side (and really not that far off from their next release).  While bigmuscle has mentioned in the past that this is kind of his 'hobby' I think it is fair to say that users don't necessarily see it that way and see it as a program that gives them a benefit that they pay for and that therefore they should have more or less seamless integration of it from release to release.

Quote

By bigmuscle 9/15/2016--My Digital Life forums:

The only and one reason was that I decided to mark the final release as 1.5 instead of 1.4.x. So I changed the number and provide it to the donators only so they have a build marked as "FINAL" and not "FOR TESTING ONLY" before I manage to complete 32-bit version and installer. Yeah, maybe I should not do that, not release anything to anyone and just wait another 2 months when everything is completed.

Those of you wishing for a turnkey solution *could* just take the time and put in the effort to become more knowledgeable - by I don't know, maybe READING - so as to be able to install the software and test it yourself.  It's pretty clear others did their reading and are getting Aero Glass to function.

It's not really rocket science, and goes something like this:

  1. The set of pertinent files is copied to your computer in e.g., the C:\AeroGlass folder.

  2. An entry is added to the Task Scheduler, run as SYSTEM, that starts aerohost.exe at bootup.

  3. Values in the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM affect the colors/transparency and whether an alternate theme atlas of window border composition graphics is used.  Some sets of those values have been published in this very thread.

Spoiler

If it can be helpful, the following are from my system with a working Aero Glass setup that doesn't look half bad
