Helping finding new Mobo + CPU for Photo/Video editing

If you seen my latest posts about the BSOD I've been getting lately, @Tripredacus says the fatal hardware error is related to my CPU. If its on the verge of complete failure then maybe its time to build a new system. But I don't see the point in replacing everything I have. 

I'm thinking all I really need to do is replace the motherboard (to be safe) and get a new CPU. I have good quality 16gb ram G.Skill, though its DDR3 which I think is fine as a lot of mobos still support DDR3 and haven't fully moved over to DDR4 yet. 

The other new dumps were related to my video card but he said those can be caused by the CPU fault so hopefully there isn't anything wrong with the video card and I should be able to use it on the new motherboard. 

So the new motherboard I was checking out is the MSI Z97 GAMING 5 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130770 and the new CPU the Intel Core i5-4690K Devil's Canyon Quad-Core 3.5 GHz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117372 seems like good componets to get. 

But I never used MSI motherboards before so I don't know how good they really are. I've only used Gigabyte and Asus. 

If anyone has any suggestions that would be cheaper and still have equal performance or greater than what I have now, that would be greatly appreciated.

As for Windows...I'm not too sure what I'll do there. But I'll probably just end up getting a copy of Win 10.

It has been a few (maybe five) years since I have used current MSI products. I can say that they were then better then than they used to be. Their product quality seems to directly relate to the product cost. So the high-end boards were better than the low-end boards. I'm not certain they did it this way on purpose, they may well have different divisions that make the different types of boards like SuperMicro does for individual boards.

The board you picked out seems to be fine. Nothing wrong with DDR3, just make sure you get good CL numbers. In my last computer I used CL9 RAM. Lower CL is of course, more expensive... but CL9 was around $40 per 8GB.

My 16gb from G.Skill is CL9. So I'm good there I think. 

I know Devil Canyon's CPUS are a refresh of the Haswell for the new Z97 boards at the time so more or less they are like pre overclocked versions of older CPUs right? But I know that 4690K is VERY good in performance and reliability as the 3570K...well unfortunately..not in my case but they are good overall processors. 

Will there be a noticable performance increase coming from my ASUS P8Z77-V LK + 3570K to the MSI Z97 and 4690K? 

If my current CPU is failing...then it may not be performing as great as it once was. But I don't know...also really like the fact that MSI Z97 has a M.2 slot, I might be very interested in getting a SSD for that bad boy at 10gb/s haha. 

Another thing I like about the MSI board is it kind of a independent PCB for audio..so its basically a dedicated sound card and has headphone amp built in..which is really nice actually. I've been having issues with the sound on my current mobo..probably due to the disgusting Realtek drivers...ugh I hate their drivers. I've always had issues with them lol.

A friend of mine told me I should just go Skylake instead of Haswell/Canyon. 

I got these parts in mind which he also recommended.  Its only about $100 more than the other parts and its way newer.

The ram unfortunately has a CL17 rating but my friend told me DDR4 has higher latency but better bandwidth I think he was saying so in end, its faster than my DDR3 2133 CL9 ram. 

Any thoughts on these parts? Or any other better recommendations?
