Does anyone happen to have a link for an older version of the Odyssey client that works under Windows 95 OSR2 (assuming this did exist at one time)? Even an old URL one can use to start somewhere on the Wayback Machine might be helpful...

And/or, has anyone attempted to use the other Wireless clients discussed here under 95?

Also, what was this thread's original title? It seems to me it should be restored; there's a lot of valuable information here. I may have been the one who removed it per the authors request (IIRC, it's been a while!) back whenever , but we need to strike a balance between such requests and any loss of information therein, especially given how fast such legacy resources are now disappearing.

I'll be honest. I do have a version 3.0 of Odyssey Client, but I'm not sure if sharing it would be legal...
Its document says 98 is the minimal requirement, nvm...boingo wireless never had a 95-compatible version according to the archive.

Also, Buffalo Manager has versions down to 1.0 that could work (I'm not sure which year they were created though).

Thanks for the reply. :thumbup

If you want to share Odyssey 3.0 I don't see any problem with it so long as 1) it is a file that was publicly available for download, and 2) you do not provide a license key or any other means of circumventing the evaluation period (assuming it's an evaluation/trial copy like the version previously linked here).

It's possible that Odyssey 3.0 or an older version of one of these other clients may work under 95 despite not claiming official support; it's worth a try.

Also, as noted earlier, the various WiFi client applications MIGHT be usable under 9x with KernelEx or a DLL wrapper/redirector since they're not drivers. Probably the older they are (closer to the end of 9x support) the better the chance, but it's a toss up anyway with no answers except trial and error.

Alright, this is what I found. I believe it's just a trial. I did not get to even test it yet, so feel free to put in on your Windows 95 Virtual Machine. Keep in mind this version does not yet support WPA2.

During my little journey in failing to find a version of Odyssey Client older than 3.0, I still found some great finds.

WLAN Expansion 2.0
Advanced Wifi Manager
https://wi-py-wireless-network-management.soft112.com/
ManageEngine WiFi Manager 5.6
Easy WiFi Radar 1.0.2 (Compatible with even WinNT 3.x and 98, 95 support unspecified...1.0.5 version here)
LucidLink WiFi Client 2.2 (WPA2 for Windows 2000)

Once I get enough free time, I'll try testing these to see if any of them are 9x-compatible, most of them claim to hold Windows 2000-compatibility :)
Now Windows 2000 users are no longer restricted to Boingo Wireless for WPA2 ^o^

Would it honestly be difficult to program our own wireless network manager for Windows 9x? Last year, I recall a user that did do the task, but it did not detect cards correctly. He pretty much disappeared afterward. The software was also lost in the crash.

Darn, I gotta test this later. Odyssey Client did mention Funk and was owned by Juniper until 2015.

This post looks promising ;)
This version of Odyssey Client appears universal but lacks WPA2. It's definitely older than version 3.1. Not 95-compatible though.

I did not get the chance to test any of these wireless managers, but the older odyssey client you linked appears to be exclusive to only specific cards...

Darn, is finding WPA2 for Windows 95 impossible?

I remember this; unfortunately I didn't save the file at the time. Hopefully someone kept a copy or the user will return; I think he wrote some other tool that may have survived the forum crash.

I've been trying to extract older copies of Odyssey from the Wayback Machine with no luck. Most of the links lead to a registration form which of course doesn't work and never resolves a download link. However I did manage to get these pages which give the original file naming conventions for older versions prior to the ones we have (and possibly later ones as well). No luck using them on Google either though.

from my searching in the wayback machine and other sources, i believe "odyssey client 1.0" supported windows 95, but was not version 1.1, and 1.1 i think was the first version with wpa support, not even wpa2 yet and so 1.0 would have been a bit old to use anyways. however, there was also a client named "Funk Soft. ODYSSEY 2.0 25 CLIENTS ( ODY-25-V2.0 )" that still appears on amazon ( currently unavailable ) but mentions windows 95 in the support list. i was never able to confirm what exactly this was for and if it really did support windows 95. i remember trying the zyxel funk software version 2.2 and it didn't install or work on windows 95.
