3D Mark 2001 Error 3DMark could not initialize your 3d accelerator HELP

Hey Guys;

I keep getting this error when running 3D mark 2001.

 

3DMark could not initialize your 3d accelerator try to downgrade your display settings.

DirectX Error Message:

P_D3D TriangleBufferManager: TriangleBuffer->Lock : D3DERR_NOTAVAILABLE

 

Does anyone a fix

 

UPDATE:

Gigabyte  GA-8I865GM-77

Pentium 4 3.6

Geforce 5600 Ultra 128mb

1GB Ram

Latest Version of Directx 9

Both versions can be installed.

See also the Readme file in the programm folder. Troubleshooting

Something isn't included in Version 9c. I never compared the files of these versions. Running 3D Mark is the only case I know to have v8.1 installed. I suggest to install 8.1 first and then 9c once more on 98SE.

i was looking on around and noticed a few different versions of DX8, 8.1, 8.1b, 8.2.

which one do you recommend?

The program requires 8.1. I had installed 8.1 and maybe on another machine 8.1b, too.

Probably you also can install 3DMark03 without the need of 8.1. The newer version supports Win98, too. It is recommended to install IE 6 for some 3DMark functionality.
