I recently tested something and I will now note that Undertale and Deltarune both run on Vista. I tested it with the Extended Kernel by win32, October 2021 update. I had to rename kernel32.dll.bak in SysWOW64 to kernelol.dll for them to work. They work flawlessly after that.

BTW I'm in China now; can't use Windows Update on my Windows Vista VM as that was "retired" due to SHA-2. As mentioned months before, that HP Compaq laptop was changed to SSD with Windows 7 and I need to find the pair of recovery disks to get Simplified Chinese Windows Vista installed. I doubt that would work and probably won't find any time for that.

One more thing is that K-Lite codec pack updates seem to choke recently. klcp_update_1675_20220119.exe did not install properly as regsrv32.exe did not register a component; klcp_update_1677_20220122.exe simply throws out a modal to inform me to use Windows 7 and later...

I guess this is the beginning of the end for K-Lite's Vista support? Well their website still mentions Vista.:)

K-Lite Codec Pack is no longer supported . The last stable and fully working version is 16.6.5 . Tested by me personally . The author claims 16.7.0 should work too , but I had terrible problems with it . For example , chrome page mute function doesn't work , etc.

Hello everyone. I'm sorry for the very long period of inactivity lately. I've had a lot going on outside of MSFN in my personal life that has kept me busy. I also walked away from an unhealthy relationship and have been taking steps to rebuild my life since then, which has kept me from being able to update the list for the past several months.
In light of the recent announcement that MSFN is going offline, I will be moving my list over to a forum hosted by my friend Ryan: http://forum.eclectic4un.me/ This will take a while as I need to manually re-add all of the links and formatting, but I will post the link here when it is finished. Feel free to join our forum if you're looking for a new home once MSFN is no longer available! We're still grassroots at the moment, but we will be building a new legacy software community over there and we'd love to have you join us (@Ximonite& @win32 are already there and have pertinent posts related to Vista Extended Kernel & Win2000's KernelXE!).

Thank you so much everyone here for your contributions to the list over the past 6 years. It has been my pleasure to help provide this information to Vista users for the past several years, and I like to believe our efforts have helped many Vista (and even XP) users over the years. I'm sad to see MSFN go, but all good things do come to an end.

Best regards :)

There were red banners plastered all over the forum a month or so ago stating that MSFN was going to shut down "if donations don't come in" (paraphrasing, I forget the exact wording).

Issues were pointed out that the donation system wasn't working in regards to submitted donations but withdrawals from submitting accounts were never withdrawn.

Donation system seems to be resolved.

Donations were made, MSFN lives on.

According to this , USD183.00 need to be donated for a duration of one month (Apr 10th - May 10th) for the site to stay online; this sum has been covered more than twofold already :thumbup, so I'd say we're good to go for at least mid-June 2022 :P ; BTW, I provided that link for any future reference, as (obviously) MSFN donations is OT for this thread ;) ...

Hello everyone. Glad to see MSFN is still online! I'm happy to announce that the list has been migrated over to the Eclecboard forum. Huge thanks to my best friend @docR for migrating it for me to his forum and making sure all the formatting is correct.

Here's the link to the sister thread on EclecBoard: https://forum.eclectic4un.me/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=113

Don't worry, I will continue to update the list on MSFN & EclecBoard for as long as both forums remain online. I am going to resume updating it again soon as I've been extremely busy in my personal life lately (and thankfully am now in a healthy, loving relationship :)). After leaving the toxicity I was in before, I feel much better and have regained interest in Vista and the list again and hope to get everything squared away with it within the next couple of weeks, as there's going to be a LOT of new changes made since October 2020...

Hope everyone is doing well!

Anyone installed IrfanView 4.60 recently on Vista? Installer fails to create desktop / start menu shortcuts here, only empty folder is made in start menu.

I too have noticed this. I had to create the shortcuts myself. The program works as expected otherwise, though.
