Windows KN versions etc

Hi,

Still have not taken the plunge to Windows 10 but I am planning before the deadline(will upgrade my Windwos 7 Ultimate). Just wanna ask about the Windows 10 Pro KN versions. Now  understand that there are NO built-in Windows media capabilities. Can I download them later and install it..?

I have been gifted a license but it's a KN version(was actually a goodbye gift from Seoul from one of the companies that I audited seeing I still have Win 7 in use). Now I plan to use that for my kid's laptop but I am wary that she will not take the plunge and upgrade after the July 15th deadline.  I also am ashamed to ask my counterpart about his gift so I asked here instead.

Will there be any issues when I register it(the KN). I am in Asia but not Korea. Can I register it to my MS account and not my kid? You know kids these days..when there's something wrong the parent is in trouble.

Will there be no language issues? I need English.

Just some questions to you guys.

Thanks there.

Yes, you can install media capabilities as a separate update: https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=48231

The license should activate anywhere, aslong as it matches the Windows version you have.

As for changing the language, aslong as its Windows 10 Pro, you will be able to change the OS language.

You don't need a Microsoft account to run Windows 10. You can do it with a local account. That way your kid won't be able to install apps from the Store. There's also built-in parental controls if you need them.

Hope this answers your questions :thumbup

I don't know whether this also applies to 10, but for 7, there were two types of FPP, those that can be activated anywhere in the world, and those with "Activation Restrictions", which were clearly identified by a red warning on the box.

See this older post of mine regarding that.

Hello guys awesome replies. Thanks. Can I ask some more.

-- Thanks on the local account and the parental control. I will apply that.
-- As to the language, currently I am having issues with my internet . It's darn slow and flakky. So I went to this site, https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/techbenchto get the Windows 10 KN ISO installer but when I got to the "select language" there wasn't any but Korean. Please see images.

Can you guy check this out please. As mentioned my internet is slow. Just getting to the language selection took about 25minutes :(

Assuming I have downloaded that file (which is English) will I be able to do a clean install with it..?

Now another issue I have...(please bear with me on this) the site says that...

Links valid for 24 hours from time of creation.
Links expire: 2/18/2016 11:47:43 PM UTC

It seems that I can't possibly download it because my connection says it'll take me 12 days to download it :(

Is there an alternative download link for an offline/standalone installer for the Windows 10 Pro KN..? Or Windows 10 Pro retail ISO where I can download..?

Thank you very much guys for the help.

Thanks for the reply guys.

Windows 10 KN is a custom edition of Windows that Microsoft created specifically for sale in South Korea. It appears to only be available in Korean. I do not know if it is possible to add a LIP to KN, I can't find it available for download.

@Tripredacus,

Can the license be used for the N version instead(actually have both licenses KN and N) here but the KN will be useless...
