Octopuss Posted December 3, 2015 Share Posted December 3, 2015 So I downloaded the Windows 10 ADK and wanted to see about creating an answer file for testing purposes only to realize what seems to be a release specifically for this version of the OS doesn't work with the new images (esd?). Dornloading the WinX ISOS's right now. I'll get back to you on whether ESD or WIM inside (in about 20 minutes). I'm suspecting ESD but I could be wrong. :unsure. IF ESD, then it would be pointless to download again. Edit - Actually, I'm using this link because I'm doing it on an XP installation.It *appears* that they may be the same ISO's? https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISOEdit2 - 32-Bit has a WIM. Will report back on 64-bit, but since 32-bit is WIM, then *probably*... 1hr45min to download (it's bigger, naturally).Edit3 - Confirmed. 64-Bit also a WIM. HTH and happy (re-) downloading. (Last note - I should also mention I haven't tried them yet as I need to back up my Win7 installation first.) Are there different isos somewhere? Yes there are ones on the VLSC. The other one you can make from your own using OEM System Builder or Retail media. I don't know if there are MSDN versions. The first link implies the ESD has four entries (a/l for x64?) and one post suggests the needed Index is 4 (for whatever reason). I'm fixing to get them via MediaCreationTool to see what the heck this is all about. That is, as soon as I get a chance, having an XP available (hooked up) ATM. kmaheshkumar Posted December 9, 2015 Share Posted December 9, 2015 (edited) Earlier I tried to service the WIM files in ISO images downloaded using Media Creation Tool but those wim files cant be mounted using DISM so i just used the ISO from MSDN and done my things @octopuss There is a script to convert ESD to ISO try that first Recently I started creating Unattended installation without modifying the ISO and I got succeeded but i just creating the answer file and mounting to VM with another iso all is done with a own C# application with using small open source libraries from codeplex(DiscUtils) Edited December 9, 2015 by kmaheshkumar Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
