sdfox7 ... thanks again for making these flash update links easy to understand and figure out ... it's a big help.

Thank you for your feedback.

I actually created a full in-depth explanation, with pictures, for manually updating Adobe Flash Player with Windows XP and Chrome. It was helpful for one soul over at the Adobe forums who was confused. Anyone, including a newbie, should be able to find it useful.

Java was updated to Version 8 Update 141 yesterday, July 18, 2017. Tested and working on XP SP3.

https://www.java.com/en/download/

I recommend the standalone offline installer (jre-8u141-windows-i586.exe), it is usually more reliable to install, and can be archived:

Poor flash.

...wow so XP will be supported until the end of time December 2020 like other OSes? That would be some good news.

:w00t:

The EOL announcement certainly makes it sound that way: "Adobe will continue to support Flash on a number of major OSs and browsers that currently support Flash content through the planned EOL. This will include issuing regular security patches, maintaining OS and browser compatibility and adding features and capabilities as needed."

Unbelievable, I only updated to SE8u141 9 days ago!

This seems to be a limited update related to security vulnerabilities. Up until April 2016, the update cadence had been every month or two. Since that time it has been exactly 3 months between each release. I expect Java to be another legacy application to be killed off in the future. I am not so sure it is as necessary or widely used as it previously was in the early 2000s. I would say Java's heyday was between 2004 and 2006, Java 5.0 and Java 6.0. DID YOU KNOW: Java 6.0 still receives non-public security updates.
