I just wanted to remark that the "online" installers (that download if you go to https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/) no longer seem to work on my XP system. I get bogus errors about my C: drive being full. The "offline" installers Bersaglio gives above work just fine, however.

I always use the offline installers, also to archive them in my FTP.

The problem is that the Flash Player "Install Now" link says the download is 19.6 MB, but when you download, it is only 1.1 MB--and the installation screen looked a little different, as well.  I don't know where Bersaglio found the full installer, but thanks for that.

Yes, it downloads that relatively small file, which in turn is supposed to download the rest. That 2-stage download has always worked on XP before, but this month, it worked on my Win 7 system but not on my XP system. And I know I had plenty of space, because I had no problems downloading the offline (full) installers and running them.

Don't know if anyone else had problems with the online Flash installers though. May have just been some kind of fluke on my system this month.

Yes. For that system you need to use Google Chrome 34 or older, which does not require SSE2 , or Firefox 48 or older that does not require SSE2. Internet Explorer 8 still works with a lot of sites, believe it or not!

Great to know still p3 can serve well:lol:

It is amazing

The full installers are always located at http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/pdc/xx.x.x.xxx/install_flash_player.exe (where xx.x.x.xxx is the version number of the Flash Player build)

Unfortunately, Adobe has caught on and started blocking these older installer links by using ROBOTS.TXT.

Your best bet is to download the older installers from Adobe's archive page: Archived Flash Player versions

It's inconvenient because you have to download all of the installers for all operating systems, but it's better than nothing.

It's not practical for me to archive all of these on my FTP, especially since Flash is still supported on XP. However, I did archive the installers for 19.0.0.245 on my FTP, because that's the final version that runs on XP SP2: http://sdfox7.com/xp/sp2/flash19/

Right! Shockwave Player 12.2.9.199 is out. And, for the 1st time ever, it's traditional "adware-free installer" isn't adware-free anymore... it tries to push a Norton something trial onto one's machine. Be sure to untick the offer to be able to bypass it (see the screenshots below)... it appears right at the end of the install.

dencorso ... just installed the new Shockwave update and I had no ads popping up. It installed as it always has. I was using your download link that I had save from before.

Shockwave Player Link

This link always points to the current (latest) non-adware English version. It's actually
a permanent link.

sw_lic_full_installer.exe

... this is the link I used with no ads. Maybe another 'mystery of the sea' .

Wow, what is it with the updates this week? Regular Patch Tuesday updates, Firefox ESR 52.2, Office 2003, not one but two Flash updates, Shockwave for Director, Silverlight - I haven't had this many updates during a single week in years!

I think software developers are finding that their old software is living on longer than they anticipated, or would have liked. Even more important, the continued hacking risks online (WannaCry, ShadowBrokers, etc) mean they are supporting these popular software titles longer than they would have liked. Unsupported operating systems that get hacked pose a risk to the Internet as a whole.

The Office 2003 update you mentioned is unprecedented, since Office 2003 fell out of extended support the same day as XP (4/8/2014). The updates also cover Office 2007, whose end of support is approaching on 10/10/2017; Microsoft extended this back in 2012.

June 13, 2017, update for Microsoft Office

why use that full Shockwave EXE installer when you can use the Shockwave Full MSI installer instead, which doesn't bundle the Norton stuff and no ads.  the MSI install package is 2x bigger than the full EXE installer but the MSI package contains both Shockwave versions 10.4 & 12.2.

@monroe: You're right. I redownloaded after reading your post, and got a slightly smaller .exe than before and, when I used this newly downloaded .exe for updating shockwave on another machine, there was no Norton offered. So it seems they had put the wrong .exe at the usual link, then realized the mistake and fixed it. That's the best explanation for the facts as they happened I can come up with. Then again, all is well that ends well, right?
