pointertovoid
I once had a 4*600GB Velociraptor raid-0 on Intel ich10r with W2k. By default, W2k could't access the 2.4GB, BUT with Intel matrix storage I could create two pseudo-disks on the 2.4GB, each clearly smaller than 2GB. W2k then sent its commands to the ich10r believing there were two disks smaller than 2GB, and I could access the whole capacity of the Raid. I did try to write at sensitive locations of the Raid (a bit over 2GB for instance) and observed that the data kept sound. Not very elegant, and limited to Intel with the matrix storage, but it seemed to work.
