Well i picked up a old toshiba 2065cds labtop some time ago. It had windows 98FE on it so I updated it to 98se but couldn't get my net work card to work on it so i formated the hard drive and installed windows 2000 but found it was to much for the labtop to run so i packed it away and forgot about it till I ran across this forum and was shocked to see that people still use 98. So i pulled the labtop back out and have started the 98se install. What I would like it to be able to do is get on the web and load teamspeak so i can see who is talk while am gaming. Am also doing this because i was told it should just be throw in the dump and couldn't do day to day task well I think it can and am going to prove it. :). I also download windows98sesp3 look like there a lot of updates and hot fix's. I would welcome people input on what web browers they use and any other app that 98 can run.

P.s. Every thing i learned started on windows 98se back in high school.

Most recent versions of web browsers and stuff that still work (with KernelEx you can run newer browsers, but none that are completely up-to-date):

Opera 10.63 (October 2010) - with KernelEx installed you can run Opera 12.02

SeaMonkey 1.1.19 (March 2010)

K-Meleon 1.5.4 (March 2010)

Firefox 2.0.0.20 (December 2008) - with KernelEx, I think it's version 10 or something, can't remember

Netscape 9.0.0.6 (Feb 20008)

Internet Explorer 6 (2000 or so I believe, anyway it's horrible, you can install GreenBrowser which uses the same engine, but has modifications and improvements, and a better interface too)

Turning off javascript on your browser will improve the speed at which webpages load, and get rid of most advertisements, at the cost of reduced funtionality. I always turn it off. Doing so also elminates annoying pop-up windows.

7-zip 9.20 - last stable version that works on Win9x.

7-zip 9.30 Alpha - last version, period, that works on win9x

Freebyte Zip nice little zipping program - http://www.freebyte.com/fbzip/ (my favorite)

FastStone Image Viewer still works, at least up to version 4.6, which is the latest I have. But I prefer version 2.30 as it uses less ram

IranView latest version still works

Xnview 2.13 was last version I believe for Win9x. (Older 1.8x and 1.66 versions seem to be less buggy on Win9x, and I recommend those instead)

VLC 0.8.6f - media player from 2008, still plays most of the videos I download from Cilp Converter.cc website (I haven't had any reason to upgrade yet)

Trout Audio Player - from 2013 (plays lots of formats) http://skwire.dcmembers.com/wb/pages/software/trout.php/

XMPLay - most recent version still works on Win9x

1by1 Directory MP3 Player 1.75 - http://mpesch3.de1.cc/1by1.html (scroll to bottom of page)

Vuplayer 2.49 from 2007 - still great program - http://www.vuplayer.com/

Cool Player - http://coolplayer.sourceforge.net/

Evil Player - http://evilplayer.net/download.php

Billy MP3 Player - http://downloads.fyxm.net/Portable-Billy-45620.html

Foxit Reader 2.2.x - last stable version for Win9x

DeepBurner - http://www.deepburner.com/

ImgBurn - http://www.imgburn.com/

PhotoFiltre 6.5.3

PhotoFiltre 7.2.0

AbiWord 2.4.6

... I could keep going, but you get the point. All these are programs I use on daily/weekly basis. They work fine on Win9x.

Thanks for every one help so far. Today i installed 98 on vmware for a test bed. I have installed. I have KernelEx installed along with U98sesp3. I tired to install firefox 17 and the install goes fine but when i try to run fire fox i get this error.  The MSVCR100.DLL file is linked to missing export Kernell32.DLL:InterlockedPopEntrySList. I have download both Dll files and add them to the system 32 folder but still have the same error. I'm going to try and install Opera 12.02. Any input would be welcomed thanks.
