LoneCrusader
Paint Shop Pro 6.02 is nice... but it's up to you as to what you prefer and need. Really depends on what you want to do with it...
ZortMcGort11
Do you need an image viewer with basic editing functions, or are you looking for some professional quality "Paint Shop Pro" type program?Well, I've been using older versions of IrfanView for many years. I prefer them over the newer bloated, "messy" versions with too many options.IrfanView 2.98IrfanView 3.17http://www.oldapps.com/irfanview.phpThese are my two favorite versions of IrfanView.XnView 1.66 works really good and is totally stable on Windows ME, so I assume it would be good for Win95. In fact, the "Readme.txt" document indicates that it is Windows 95 compitable. All the versions before 1.6x seem to have various bugs, and often crashed my computer. I wouldn't use anything older than version 1.60 of XnView. Version 1.66 is what I've been using for a while, and I definitely recommend.http://www.oldapps.com/old_version_XnView.phpPhotoFiltre 6.5.3 works flawlessly on WinME, I haven't tested it on Win95. I think it's probably one of the best freeware programs available for batch conversion, image editing, and doing lite graphics creation.http://photofiltre.free.fr/frames_en.htmNewView Graphics Viewer is powerful, has nice features, and has a total Win9x style interface. Should work on Windows 95.http://www.newviewgraphics.com/viewer/viewer.htmFineView 0.67Another nice Win95 compatible viewer, much like IrfanView, but has some different features.ftp://ftp.sac.sk/pub/sac/graph/finevw67.zipImgViewer 2.8http://www.arcatapet.com/software/imgv32.cfmPic_Viewftp://ftp.sac.sk/pub/sac/graph/pic_view.zipiView 2.4http://www.freewareweb.com/cgi-bin/archive.cgi?ID=928SlowView Image Viewer(scroll down the page until you see SlowView)http://www.completelyfreesoftware.com/grp14_w95.html.........You can always try some DOS programs too.....Sea Image Viewerhttp://www.filewatcher.com/m/sea12c.zip.628780-0.htmlPictView 1.94ftp://ftp.sac.sk/pub/sac/graph/pictv194.zip Edited January 2, 2015 by LostInSpace2012
Tripredacus
I can think of two commercial products, but not sure where you could get them nowadays. Macromedia Fireworks 2 Adobe Photoshop 5.5 There are some versions of Photoshop 5.x that were labelled Special or Limited Edition that were pack-ins CDs with some hardware bundles. I have one of these but I don't remember what it came with.
Commodore
I suggest you ArcSoft PhotoStudio 2.0 SE. Small but already quite complete.http://web.archive.org/web/20010411054644/http://home2.photoisland.com/photosharing/pstudiotrial.html
Nomen
The CorelDraw 9 suite is hands down the best graphics package for win-9x/me. Although I will admit that possibly version 10 or 11 is better - and I lament the fact that I didn't think to get my hands on those versions years ago when they were more available. I believe that version 11 will run on 9x - but that's probably the last version.
ZortMcGort11
Besides the freeware programs I already mentioned, you might also try Image Forge 3.60http://www.freewarefiles.com/Image-Forge-V_program_309.htmlIt's more of a painting / editing program than a viewer, however. Andrew T.
I've spent the last decade sufficing on a combination of IrfanView 3.9x, Paint Shop Pro 4, and Paintbrush from Windows 3.1...but I'm just as curious as anyone if a better product for all-around use exists. For finding older Fireworks and Photoshop versions, eBay is your best bet. 95-compatible trial demos of Fireworks also exist...but even ten years ago, Macromedia and Adobe tried their best to scrub them off the net.
