Hi Guys, Finally I managed Windows 2000 installation on my Dell Latitude E4310, however I could have done it only in ATA mod. Could you please to guide me further how to enable AHCI mod? My chipset is Intel 5 Series/3400 Series. I have the necessary XP ahci drivers from Dell website, what now?

See if this fits the situation:

(you will need to adapt for the PCI VEN/DEV, etc., ideally you should check an XP installation to make sure).

Are you sure the XP drivers are good for 2k?

Well I want win2000 with ahci, because I have more windows installed and painful to boot into an another by changing sata operation in bios every time.

I followed the description in your second link, unfortunately it is not working yet. I've used IaStor.sys file from my windows xp, also an another file from the downloaded intel matrix storage manager. Not sure what is next? Maybe need a different code, because in the description is for P35 ICH9 based board.

There are two points worth of note:

  1. it is to be found out IF the XP driver is suitable for 2K
  2. adapt the Registry entries for your specific dirver and controller

It should be clear that point #2 makes no sense if the driver is not suitable for 2K.

As an alternative, try using UNIATA:

http://alter.org.ua/en/soft/win/uni_ata/

which surely is 2K compatible and should be also compatible with your hardware.
