Installing Windows XP SP2 using USB flash drive

Recommended Posts

A time ago I could install succesfully WinXP SP2 in a Netbook PC Smart with version 0.2.2 from Author Ilko. Now I needed repeat the same process, but unfortunatelly the person that tryed to install unplugged the USB stick after the 1st execution of second step (GUI mode part of setup).

Trying again to install, after seeing the menu:

1. TXT mode Setup Windows XP, Never unplug USB-Drive Until After Logon

2. GUI Mode Setup Windows XP Continue Setup + Start XP.

the folloing message was displayed:

The file INF txtsetup.sif was not found or is damaged.

I ask you for help, and also if it is possible to download from your site a user's guide about this utility.

Thanks you for your help

Right questions :), wrong place. :w00t:

The tool (and support for it ) may be found here:

http://www.msfn.org/board/forum/157-install-windows-from-usb/

http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/120444-how-to-install-windows-from-usb-winsetupfromusb-with-gui/

The 0.2.2 version you are using is a (very old)  "previous" version of the tool, it might be better/easier, instead of attempting to "repair" that USB stick, to re-create a new one with latest version of the WinsetupFromUSB tool.
