monkeylove
Hello. How do I change the background color of the file explorer main and tree window to grey? I was able to do that for Win 7 but the advanced options are not available for 8.1.To change the background color of programs, I went to HKEY_CURRENT_USER->Control Panel->Colors and changed the Window color setting to "200 200 200". I can't find the key for the file explorer colors. Also, sometimes the machine cannot remember the modification and defaults to a new, unsaved theme. I have to select the theme I saved with the modification to bring it back.
monkeylove
I researched further, and I think there's no registry option for this. Customized skins or themes are needed. If anyone knows of a theme that doesn't do a lot of changes except for turning the background color of all apps grey, please let me know. Thanks. Aloha
High contrast themes of Windows can change the background color of the file explorer. But I guess you will be depressed by the ugliness of these themes!
osRe
At least in Win8.1, unlike 8, you can change the window title font size without skin editing. Well, as long as you disable multi-monitor DPI-aware UI scaling.
