Also, with POP3, it's common to create multiple email folders on your PC to organize your emails. With IMAP, if you create multiple folders, they are created on the mail server itself.

That is a worry for what I want to do.

I posted a detailed query in "Outlook Forums" at forums.slipstick.com.  May I ask you to take a look, especially at my last Reply?  It's at https://forums.slipstick.com/threads/96719-how-set-up-new-imap-on-outlook-office-365-and-merge-in-pst-from-outlook-2003-for-same-two-email-accounts/

Thanks!!

Question: kb4012598 is a custom update, to deal with WanaCry problem. Are there any more "Custom" updates for to fix cia-nsa-fbi back door issue? I thought there was a few that came out around the time there was vault 7 leaks, or something like that. Other custom updates that may not show on MS updates!

Does Office 2010 update KB4462223, which seems to be part of April 9 updates, last modified March 19th, cause problems for Excel and Word as someone earlier stated?

And all the earlier talk about KB4494528 breaking Windows Installer unless it's followed by regsvr32 MSI.DLL, is that automatically taken care of by this update which was also included in automatic updates?

Thanks, everyone.

Yes, it breaks all Office 2010 apps on XP; not just Excel and Word. Even breaks free 2010 apps like the PowerPoint Viewer. :realmad: I don't think it breaks any earlier versions of Office though.

Well, the update you linked to is 4494528! The support page explains that it fixes a problem with an earlier update, 4486464. But AFAIK you still need to run regsvr32 MSI.DLL after installing it; I haven't heard that M$ re-released it with that mistake fixed. (Even if they did, it won't hurt to run that command anyway.)

I think there is still more problems with kb4494528

I have just done two fresh install, trying to resolve a problem. WinXP Pro (sp0) --> uSP4 --> GH0stPak_26Apr19

Error I get while trying to install Printer driver (Canon Pixma TS3122) is ...

" SHGetKnownFolderPath could not be located in Dynamic link library SHELL32.dll "

Recent/previouse installs worked just prior to kb4494528, so this is why I suspect this. Wondering if we have seen this error yet regarding recent and a possible fix?

@GH0st

Because of KB4494528 I have not been able to detect any problems (custom update, https://msfn.org/board/topic/171814-posready-2009-updates-ported-to-windows-xp-sp3-enu/?do=findComment&comment=1162245), can offer you my update rollup with which you after reinstalling WinXP Pro sp3 this installation and try if the error occurs here as well. Since I do not know what software for the printer is installed, I can not retrace that. If you are interested in a test send me a PM.

:)

Thanks Heinoganda, I am pretty dedicated to uSP4, so I will continue to work on through this service pack. Has not been a problem till now, which I am sure its with kb4494528. I will now do another fresh install, but not include this one update in my GH0stPak. Will try to install prior to GH0stPak and After, see if I can really pinpoint this. Will report back!

" SHGetKnownFolderPath could not be located in Dynamic link library SHELL32.dll "

I am pretty sure this error has nothing to do with KB4494528, because it updates MS Installer 4.5 core files only. It probably means that SHELL32.dll (or any dependent file) is outdated. Your real problem probably lies here:

"WinXP Pro (sp0) --> uSP4 --> GH0stPak_26Apr19"

Official SP3 for WinXP (not to mention uSP4) cannot be directly installed over WinXP Pro (sp0). Update installation procedure should be changed to

WinXP Pro (with sp3 already included) --> uSP4 --> GH0stPak_26Apr19

or (still not recommended)

WinXP Pro (sp0) --> SP1 --> SP3 --> uSP4 --> GH0stPak_26Apr19

Why is the installer even using this call? It's reported as Vista and upwards inside SHELL32.dll https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/desktop/api/shlobj_core/nf-shlobj_core-shgetknownfolderpath

This is a long shot, but could 4494528 have changed how the installer detects XP, so now it thinks it's running on Vista+ and makes a Vista-specific call?

They bumped the msi.dll version from 4.5.6002 to 4.5.6003; maybe if it sees anything > 4.5.6002 it assumes Vista. That'd be a stupid thing for Canon to do but I've seen weirder code.

Have you tried removing 4494528 and seeing if the printer driver will then install? If so, it's easy enough to reinstall 4494528 afterwards.
