Just installed the heinoganda's modded "WindowsXP-KB4134651-v2-x86-FRA_oleaut32dll.exe"
Installation OK, and everything is well.
No bug with [Shortcuts - Properties - Find location]
WU is sleeping...

Thank you again for your help, heinoganda, and congratulations +++ !

All - Still a few glitches,  I uninstalled KB4134651-v2, leaving in place May's installation of KB4134651, which must have been heinoganda's hot rod version.

The best would be from me to install the modified update KB4134651-v2 and then again KB4339291, so that your system should feel comfortable again.

Hi everybody,

Very happy to find this forum because I have big issue with KB4134651 from may 2018 and now KB4134651-v2$ from july 2018 on my XP pos ready 2009. I cant install these 2 KB... because as soon as they are installed, my internet connection disappears in Systray and I cant disconnect from Internet without it. Plus, as a member wrote yesterday in the Forum, I cant find the target anymore of any icon of the desktop (right clic, properties etc...)

Without these 2KB... everything works fine. Should we wait for Micro$oft to release a KB4134651-v3$ in August ?

It is really extraordinary that noone at Micro$oft noticed these issues and version 2 still have same problems than version 1. Thanks for reading.

The only satisfactory answer at the moment to this is to message @heinoganda who can provide a modified KB4134651-v2 patch which contains all the latest files except for oleaut32.dll, which will be the last properly working version. As far as we know, this does not have any security implications.

For users of LvLLord's patcher to avoid EventID 4226 only (if you don't know what I'm talking about, you probably don't need it):
MS has released yet a newer TCPIP.SYS v. 5.1.2600.7510 in KB4291391. The current LvLLord's Patcher 2.23d remains capable of changing the half-open tcp limit, a testimony of how a well written patcher resists passing time. :worship:

@pixelsearch2... if you have a legit POSReady Licence, then please report it to Microsoft as well. They probably ignored my ticket, but if two people report the same issue on the exact same product, then maybe (just maybe) they'll fix it.

@FranceBB... my XP Pro is fully legit, bought it cash at the time.

Anyway, no need to report Microsoft about their poor update concerning KB4134651-v2, I cant believe they delivered updates that created problems in may, then same problems in july.

We are lucky heinoganda is here, with a fantastic new version of oleaut32.dll (5.1.2600.7494) when Microsoft's is 5.1.2600.7248 . All my issues have disappeared with heinoganda's version : the internet icon is visible again when connected, and the "find target" works again.

Only thing bad that could happen is Microsoft injects again the buggy oleaut32.dll in future updates (from august 2018 to april 2019, which should be the last update for POSready). But with you guys controlling everything here, there sure will be a solution in case it happens.

A great week-end to you all and thanks a lot :)

It's just a stopgap, because the oleaut32.dll file comes from KB4018556-v2, where each version number has been adjusted. I would prefer synonymous if MS would finally solve this problem and again an update would appear where the file oleaut32.dll works correctly again. Hope dies last!

@FranceBB

If @pixelsearch2's system is XP, rather than POSReady, there's obviously no point in him reporting this to Microsoft.
What's needed is for as many people as possible with genuine licensed actual POSReady systems to report it, as MS are actually shipping a buggy update (three times!) to a still supported operating system!

I use a driver "TCP Half Open Limited Patcher (TCP-Z)" to provide the same function.
It's from someone called "deepxw".
It's also still working fine.

CORRECTION IN BOLD AND SEE NOTE AT END -- Sorry to report that although heinoganda's hot-rod-mod version of KB4134651-v2 seems OK -- no Properties-Find problems -- my MalwareBytes remains sodded.  It does not boot up correctly on reboots and is then not accessible even though the processes MBAMService.exe, mbam.exe and/or mbamtray.exe might be running.  And I've been getting a bunch of PC brain-freezes and BSODs.

Is it finally time to move the duct tape (and my emails) to my Win 7 machine?

Anyway, here's my recent Update History list, which misses whatever I installed manually, like
- KB4339093 for IE8 and
- Bersaglio's link to the Office 2003 Compatibility 2007 update and
- heinoganda's hot-rod-mod version of KB4134651-v2

The list is in reverse chronological order - most recent installation at the top.  The top (most recent) three appeared by themselves after the hot-rod-mod version of KB4134651-v2 so I installed them.

NOTE - A few posts above, Heinoganda mentions "KB4018556-v2", and I see "KB4018556" newly installed in my list above.  Do I need to uninstall that and get a special hot-bod version of it from heinoganda?

If Microsoft Update says you're fully patched with up to date patches, and everything in Windows Explorer is working as it should be, I don't see any reason to uninstall any of them.
In your position I would completely uninstall Malwarebytes and see if the system is then stable, with no BSODs or freezes.
If it is, then try reinstalling it.
