Uh, more like a week and a half :> Unless board, after updates, pops up his edit as a totally new post. I only see 3.09.2017 on my machine...

My mistake, somehow I had read his post date as 2016.  Very sorry for the mistaken accusation. :)

I just for the first time noticed that Firefox on XP will not get any more security updates after this month.

Is there an alternative secure browser for our super-annuated XP machines?

den - thanks for good news - I hope.   But see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/end-support-windows-xp-and-vista

And your chart shows 52 coming to an end on June 26 2018.  Will we stop getting security updates for FF after?

Well, Mozilla is not clear.  They must have learned English at the Microsoft School of Languages.

What do you think?

@glnz The unified browser thread may be a better fit for these types of questions, it may even already have some answers ;) .

---------------------------

Regarding POSReady 2009, though, I wonder if there's any chance of it getting TLS 1.2 updates the same way Server 2008 SP2 suddenly did last month with KB4019276. Its extended support ends in January 2020 (I think), less than a year after POSReady 2009, so it might not be an unreasonable expectation in the current security climate. Could them working on this possibly be the reason IE updates were skipped last month? :unsure: Probably wishful thinking but I guess we'll see soon enough.

I got those six as well, glnz.  I also had an optional wepos one too that I opted for.  I did not get the Install Shield, but they finally came up after a few hours of waiting on them using the Windows Update feature.  They've installed without issue and so far haven't given me any problems.

This is the reg tweak that I used:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\WindowsEmbedded\ProductVersion]
"FeaturePackVersion"="SP3"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\WEPOS]
"Installed"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\WES]
"Installed"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\PosReady]
"Installed"=dword:00000001

Even though I got that from this forum, I now suspect that this is not the best/correct reg tweak to use. I believe that I need to delete that first registry key. Correct? And are there any others I should also delete?

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\WEPOS]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\WES]

These 2 paths should be deleted from registry in order to get WU thinking this is really POSReady machine.
