ZortMcGort11
what service pack does your Windows NT 4.0 installation have? Do you have Windows Installer 2.0 installed? (requires service pack 6)http://www.computing.net/answers/windows-nt/3-very-easy-steps-to-modern-browsing-nt-40/23329.htmlhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_NT_4.0#Service_packshttp://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=11176If you don't know those details... you can try using the following:http://www.belarc.com/free_download.htmlhope that helps :-) Edited May 9, 2014 by LostInSpace2012

j7n
Windows Installer and InstallShield can break for a hundred reasons, and often the error messages are misleading. They both suck individually, and even more when combined.Try the "classic" Wise installer instead.http://arc.opera.com/pub/opera/win/1063/en/

submix8c
@j7n - "looks like" a good catch, as the other topic claims it DOES work (including on Win95+). Just seems like "which installer" was never mentioned... @all - No, folks, I haven't tested NT4+OtherStuff lately, so only helping with Q's and Links... edit - Seems the above post confirms it. j7n
InstallShield has often failed me on non-standard customized systems which have missing or different shell folders. I have a feeling that some software wants to appear as a more serious if it is deployable by Windows Installer... Luckily Opera 11 and later no longer have an installer. Instead, Opera copies itself to the destination directory. And if it can't start, then it is likely it won't load later in use either until something is added to the system.
