But it will not work on Windows 8.1. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You DID copy the XP Folder to your Windows8 machine, right?

How does it "not work"? You haven't said what the symptoms are.

Here is a link for "how to" for the non-Internet Games -

http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/5860-games-on-windows-server-2003/?findpost=1078133

Again, Windows7 -but- shouldn't it work?

I'm not sure I understand how it can be so "different" between Win7/Win8.

I can get all of the non internet games to work, and currently have them installed.  When I try to do the same with the internet games, it comes up with an error saying they need to be installed.

Again, I do not need any help for any NON INTERNET GAMES.  I am only interested in the Internet Games, as I specified in the title of this thread.

So, if you want to talk about NON INTERNET GAMES I am not interested.  I am only interested in installing the Windows XP INTERNET GAMES on Windows 8.1.

So these are Windows XP 32bit registry entries with the Program Files path modified and then imported as 64bit registry entries?

32bit processes will look in the 32bit region of the registry. In my testing, some of those entries do not exist in the 32bit region when searched after the registry file import. The Software\Classes\Interface entries were missing. The Software\Classes\CLSID key is conditional with certain entries as mentioned here.

I did try changing the Program Files ommitting the (x86) part and imported the reg file with the 32bit version of Regedit and I did find the entries that i could not find before. So perhaps you could try this concept and test if the internet games work with the changes.

(sigh...) Translate this link with Google, Bing, etc. from Romainian to English.

http://cafeauaneagra.blogspot.ro/2012/04/reversi-strategia-instalarii-pe-windows.html

You never answered the question as to whether you copied them to the correct place?

(note - I have no clue what "Fiser" is...)

Thanks Submix. I know this thread is a bit old but just to let you know this did work for me. I now have the Windows XP Internet Games on both my Windows 7 and Vista. That blog post is in Romanian so I had to use Google translate to read it but yes it worked. But did not work on Windows 8.

That is what I am hoping for, Internet games on Windows 8, and beyond!

Windows 8.x is (basically) an entirely different beast. I'm not really sure what Games are in it (since I have no *running* Win8.x test bed) or how they might  compare to WinVista/7 (currently unplugged test beds) or what Games exist between them (or XP).

What I'm saying is, Vista/7 Games *may* run on Win8.x but chances are you can forget XP ones.

Sorry. :}

I tried this on Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 and the XP Internet Games work on  the same as they do on 7 but not on Windows 8. I don't know why that is. If you read that blog post which is in Romanian (but can be translated using Google Translate) what he has done is copied the registry entry's from Windows XP. But for some reason this does not work on Windows 8.

You can however run the Windows 7 Internet Games on Windows 8 which works for me. I found out how to do it from this post:
