[OLD] Aero Glass for Win8.1+

I looked at the log files and couldn't see anything that looked wrong.. assuming I even know what I'm looking at.

I know, right? It's odd. "Donation key loaded" in the log file, but still a nag screen. Ah well, it's not a big deal, I can hide it -- but this is starting to look like a bug.

But I think the first error is in the first sentence. Win8.1Installer.. Why? Even if lazy, You need only extract the aeroglass zip to where you want it, and run the 'schedule.bat' from the same folder to configure a task on start. There really isn't anything to install as such.

Secondly I have always put an 'aeroglass' folder in the root of C: , (as recommended), and never had an issue with updates or symbols or keys. BM has answered many odd situations with nested folder permissions... just keep it simple.

As soon as I corrected my key (I reasonably assume it changed now my laptop has a fresh ssd), everything performed perfectly.

I'd run the unins000.exe (or manually remove the task from scheduler then delete the folder), and do it again properly like I wrote above.

Easier than guessing.

Well, I've done everything you said, including changing the install path to C:\AeroGlass, and when none of that worked, I even changed the owner of the AeroGlass folder to SYSTEM (as that's the user AeroGlass runs as), and it still wouldn't work. So yeah. It won't download symbols with the donation key present, and when it's presented with symbol files that I downloaded manually, it will work, but keeps nagging.

I can't say it's the biggest issue I've encountered since running Windows 10 Tech Preview as my daily workstation OS

Funny coincidence... With altered drop shadow resources to "fake" a small border, window resize operations (i.e., specifically the places around the window where the mouse cursor changes) seem actually just a little bit more accurate and properly positioned than Win 8.1.

So far so good on AG10.

Today I played around with the Atlas, adding the standard reflection png also. Its just a small change to button colours. Thinking about NoelC's discovery of the outer regions and mouse detection points, I might play around with making a wider window border. I basically like the style of the Windows10 theme in many ways because I enjoy the square style of it. But the window edges are confusing at times.

And it seems random when they are dark or light text/buttons.

So while system to system will vary in performance, and code changed on MS side can easily break things in future updates, currently, AG10 has been completely suitable for me for daily use on my laptop.

I did not get to try on my desktop yet, as I use my tv tuner too much and have not found a good alternative for WMC, so thus far, I have not tested on a dual screen setup, which previously was something that needed additional work while others were 100% stable on single monitors. Hopefully, the stability is more or less the same as the Win8.1 version. I am looking for an alternative tv tuner software, so, i will update once I get to that point.

Not here it doesn't. It's working as solidly as ever for me with the latest updates. I've been running them for 2 full days now.

I have to agree with Dracken, I have grown on the square style of buttons.

The general theme of Windows 10 is fine, I still run a version made by a user 'Gill' for my Win8.1 system. Have not even tried it yet on TP.

Restores a bit of shadow and a touch of glow I think.. it is very subtle.

Losing the side borders on Win10TP... um, Borders on ridiculous if we compare with the over sized ones we had in 8. I tweaked my metrics to reduce those.

White min/max buttons look nice in your theme.

Interesting. Ever since Windows 8.1 installed updates one day I get a notification almost every time I log in/out or restart that says my DWM is incompatible with Aero Glass and missing symbols and things. And Aero works but it's glitchy and lags around. :/

I think it's more then likely you are not using the latest build, I was running an older build on one of my PC's and noticed the same issue, updating t the latest fixed the problem.

also, in the "generate new key section" it says that i have not donated enough to generate a key. so... how much do i need to generate in order to have the full version? i read that you can donate whatever amount you want in order to get the unrestricted version, or did i read something wrong?

There is a lower limit, just for case that some users would like to abuse this possibility by donating virtual amount only (because part of the value is used as a fee for PayPal service).

you are clearly one of the ppl who seemingly just want the unrestricted version, arent you?

but well the nagging truly is annoying.

I wont tell you the details but you have certainly way more than 2 licences by donating less than 10 euro.

i didn't mean to nag! i'm just new! sorry...

the details on the website wasn't very clear, if i have way more than 2 licenses, where is it? and yes, i just want the unrestricted version, but i don't seem to have the key for it . i read about the lower limit, but it doesn't state what amount i would have to donate in order to unlock the restricted option. i just purely want to get rid of the watermark and the dwm compatibility, thats all
