Computer hanging on shutdown

Hi guys!

I have checked drivers etc and can't see any problems...

I can go through the shutdown process and the computer turns itself off 7 times out of 10 but just hangs at times....

I usually hold in Power switch when this happens....funny thing is when Windows restarts I am not getting any warnings and can't see anything specific in the log?

Has anyone any suggestions how to work out what it is?

Hi, I have no fix but an alternative for you. Batch files (or shortcuts to them) to put on your desktop.

Computer Shutdown batch file:

%windir%\system32\shutdown.exe -s -t 0 -f

Computer ReStart batch file:

%windir%\system32\shutdown.exe -t 0 -r -f

I would create a new user account, log into it, go to a website or something then try a shut down and see if it happens there. Its likely a running application causing the problem, and if you are lucky it will be profile specific. Meaning, a new user profile might not have that program.
