dhjohns Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Anyone else still getting "Folders" at the top in This PC?Sometimes, but I take them out with this Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HomeFolderDesktop\NameSpace\DelegateFolders\{3134ef9c-6b18-4996-ad04-ed5912e00eb5}][-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HomeFolderDesktop\NameSpace\DelegateFolders\{3936E9E4-D92C-4EEE-A85A-BC16D5EA0819}]

Quick Access no longer has anything listed under it but "Folders" is still in This PC.. Oh I'm using Windows 10 64-bit by the way..
NoelC Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 You're talking about in the Files pane? Yeah, all the "Folders" are still there for me. Normally I don't use that area much, save for checking whether any disks are near full. -Noel

Night AoX Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I strongly prefer to have the "Folders" gone. http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/6015-pc-folders-add-remove-windows-10-a.html gets rid of it but, I was hoping ONE development has gotten to the point where it could handle the task.. I miss Favorites too. Quick Access is alright but, if you want your Profile Folder pinned there, you have to manually set the green shirt dude as the folder icon just so that it is correct.

Maybe further down the road..
NoelC Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Watch out for breaking SFC system integrity. I've found that removing some of the keys leads to SFC reporting problems, and SFC /SCANNOW putting them back. -Noel

I don't know what's changed since then..
NoelC Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I'm not sure exactly which ones. I do know that I can eliminate all the extraneous stuff from the Navigation pane on the left (except Quick Access) without perturbing SFC. -Noel 1
Night AoX Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I personally have no need for such configuration as I only use a few directories & am willing to manually open each one in multiple windows. Also, I use n2ncopy for large copy & paste tasks. Nice left pane config though

maslow Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 (edited) Nice tip, but that's still one small blue star too many. -NoelI noticed this page earlier and i have now tested it and i can confirm that it does remove the star too! http://winaero.com/blog/how-to-hide-and-remove-quick-access-icon-file-explorer-in-windows-10/ But remember to Configure the File Explorer to open This PC instead because i believe this fix will break WIN+E if you dont. NoelC Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Try dragging and dropping something in the Navigation (left) pane. If that works I'll be interested. All tweaks discovered so far break drag and drop. -Noel
NoelC Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 This does not affect SFC /Scannow. That's good. Something in a list I ran much like yours did break it - twice - and I've just not had the time to figure out exactly what did it. -Noel
