svchost

Recommended Posts

Well I've followed gosh's guide, and done some other tweaks and slimmed my iso down to 198 megs, using 14 processes and 50 megs of memory when running. But there are four copies of svchost running, some using more memory than the others. My question is this: What is svchost, and can I safely remov it. If so, how? TIA

its got nothing to do with gosh's guides...

when u install xp there will be 4 copies of svchost.

u can get rid of 3 of them. but 1 u definitely need (rpc).

most of them u can disable or set to manual.

if u have static ip u can disable dhcp.. well okay it'd be a very long post if u was to post every service.

so instead go here

so as black viper suggested I've some profiles running. I've main and games. so when I log into games I don't have much services running. only ones I need to play games online..

I agree leave them alone if u dunno what u're up to :)
