I had a weird behaviour today. While watching a movie with mpc-hc and messing with the refreshrates (jumping between 24hz and 60hz) the screen blinked and I've lost a mouse pointer on the desktop, it was only visible on the taskbar. Restart helped but I wasn't be able to reproduce it again. I have no idea what might caused it, but i thought it's worth to mention.

Back on Catalyst 13.7 with Windows 7 I used to see those kinds of blinks after playing videos. I haven't seen one since moving to Windows 8.1. I always assumed they were some kind of memory reorganization by the display driver.

Hey!

First off I want to say that I love this program.

But I want to report a bug.

I installed the 64-bit version of RC3 on my desktop, where it worked perfectly. But when I installed the 32-bit version on my ASUS VivoTab (TF810C), I experienced graphical issues. When anything moved on the screen (windows moving, wallpaper changing, etc.), or sometimes even when the screen was completely still, the taskbar and window borders were flickering heavily, or some random parts of them completely disappeared and then reappeared, and sometimes windows left a trail on the taskbar or other window's borders while it was moving through them. I'm not sure whether it is a problem of tablet's graphic adapter, or a bug in Glass8. I didn't find anything suspicious in the debug log nor the Event Viewer, but here is the debug.log anyway:

Sounds a bit like what I've seen, but only VERY infrequently on Win 8.1 x64.

I've seen another new issue, more serious but again impossible to relate with certainty to Aero Glass for Win 8.1...

Over the past two days, since the Windows Updates early this week, on two occasions I've returned to my system to find the left monitor off, the right one on but blank, and no way to recover operation without a hard power-down/reset. No errors are logged in the Aero Glass for Win 8.1 debug.log.

Interestingly, there ARE some log entries coincident with the timing of the problem occurrences, which were at around 18:00 on January 15, and 12:30 today. I don't know if that's an indication of a DWM restart or what...

Please, could you verify how your computer runs without Aero Glass for several days (maybe more, because glass effect increases HW utilization so any problems can appear more faster)? This topic will become a mess if you report here every problem with your computer.

EDIT: btw, I just noticed one interesting thing on Win8.1 32-bit (I have not checked 64-bit) which happens regardless Aero Glass (= it happens even if Aero Glass is not installed). When I disable video adapter in Device Manager, I end up with black screen and nothing to do except restarting. It did not happen any time before so it must be some new bug in Win8.1 itself.

Messing up the path to the glass reflection leaves me with an inoperable system. You should make it fail more gracefully.

Messing up the path of the theme atlas just leads to it not being loaded, can't you do the same for the reflection?

edit: somehow, entering the correct path doesn't seem to activate the glass reflection either... I did set the ColorizationGlassReflectionIntensity value. Did I miss any special conditions? I'm trying to use the png MrGRiM posted a while back (#481)
