Good question. :yes:

Without patches/modifications you are "safe" until you get to the LBA28 limit (and need LBA48), i.e. around 128 Gib (137Gb), in practice a 120 Gb hd:

With the TeraByte Plus Patches you can use 512TiB to 4PiB depending on Logical Sector Size.

Using just LLXX's 48-bit LBA patch or RLoew's patch for the same purpose, 2 TB (not 2 TiB), provided all partitions < 1 TiB.

For onboard SATA drives, another of RLoew's patches may be needed, depending on the controller's manufacturer and model.

The 120GB drive will work for now since this computer is just for Win98SE games but if I outgrow it I will probably research what it takes to run a 500GB hard drive. Thanks for that info!

PIII or Celeron (probably the last Socket-370 version) - Intel 815E - PC100/PC133 SDRAM. Doubt if 48-Bit capable... better get another 120gb HDD (while they can still be found), use a DDO, or get a SATA Add-In card. :( A nice Dual-Layer DVD-RW drive would help a bit for off-line storage...

FWIW, my similarly spec'd GX200 is supposedly LBA48 capable with the latest/last BIOS update (A05 if I recall).

BIOS is there in the link. A program to test 48-bit capable exists. 150 ≠ 200, so :unsure: (the "implied" reason I gave the link and recommendation of DOS-based)...

"150 ≠ 200" is the reason I said FWIW. However, the respective dates are encouraging :

It's very similar to the Small Form Factor cpu but they call it the Small Desktop. It has the Pentium 3 997MHz. Got a 120GB drive on the way (prob in my po box now). What is a DDO? DVD-RW drive is a good idea, didn't know if they would work in these old machines. How do I know if I need a BIOS update?

Same drivers, same BIOS, just a different "case" (AFAICT). Look in that Manual. ;)

DDO = Dynamic Drive Overlay

Used to circumvent BIOS Limitations.

Yes, DVD will work.

Check your current BIOS version.

Ah yes, forgot about that.

Nvidia GeForce FX5200 256mb graphics card successfully installed, really helps display internet better. Sound working now. Internet working now except need adblocker. Ads block me from sign in on msfn. Installed 120gb hard drive. Just working few bugs out. Firefox downloads were 32kb/sec last night, over 100 today. Many annoying expired certificate warnings when going to new websites. The onboard ethernet card is pretty funky, possibly not the right drivers. Have tried multiple times reloading the drivers given by Dell. Think I'm just going to put in a pci ethernet card.
