GX150 Win98SE Project

Your NUSB link is 404 now, LC...

@LC: There's no avoiding it: the spx subdirectory at MDGx's is toast, and, thanks to an /spx/ entry in its robots.txt, there's no backup at the wayback machine. So, all that went poof! (= vanished in the ether). :(

Wow, I don't know how I missed that, given the current state of things and my current project.

I guess it just goes to show how much we depend on MDGx's site, without even thinking about it. I retrieved most of those links from there, except my own link for Flash Player. :(

??? W95-11D.ZIP - complete contents has date/time=2013/05/05 12:00am

Until further notice by MDGx, extremely limited downloads. :(

http://www.mdgx.com/form.htm

As I mentioned in the other thread, MDGx hasn't been answering my messages for over a year. I've sent about 4 emails over that span, and all have gone unanswered.

Entire portions of the site; the /spx directory, (other parts linked from the bottom of one of the pages you linked  ), and who knows what else have simply vanished, and I don't think we should "expect" it to get fixed at this point.

The jury is still out... Two of the "lists" missing. Also noting here mentions of Windows8/2012. It certainly is saying the "file" isn't found. The OTHER "lists" use SOME sort of index to list them (see the TOP of that page - PHP). Why would one assume that you could list the "SPX" directory without some method? Renamed/moved? We seem to be assuming it's just... GONE.

Waiting for jury to return...

Your NUSB link is 404 now, LC... so here's one of mine, this one to a well tested but not the latest version of NUSB.

hmmm never get to the page where it actually downloads. Am I clicking the wrong links?

Don't know what's going on there. I'm getting the same loop.

You can get NUSB from here as well.

It's really funny when USB device manufacturers start distributing NUSB as a driver for one of their products from their official website...:angel

Yeah, it is. :)

Can you tell me if these programs would be good for 98SE?

IMMC WIN98SE

MICROSOFT PLUS 98!

MSAA20_RDK WIN98SE

MSBCKUP 98SE

AVIRA NTFS FOR DOS_H98SE

RP9 98SE

SYSPLG98

USB20DRV 98SE

IMMC WIN98SE - Don't know what this is offhand?

MICROSOFT PLUS 98! - I always add this to my systems, just be sure not to install the old McAfee Antivirus that is included in it. (I also don't add the "compressed folders" extension because I use WinRAR, but it's up to you.)

MSAA20_RDK WIN98SE - Should be OK, never used it.

MSBCKUP 98SE - Should be OK, never used it

AVIRA NTFS FOR DOS_H98SE - Paragon NTFS may be a better choice...

RP9 98SE - Personal choice. I don't use it.

SYSPLG98 - Not needed. Already in NUSB.

USB20DRV 98SE - DO NOT! I repeat DO NOT! Install this. NUSB covers this and this package is buggy.

Well, I click on the link I gave, the page blanks for a second and then the download box dialog opens asking me to save or cancel, just as I'd expect for a direct download link. What happens when you click that link? You're not expected to go to any page... you're expected to get a download box dialog.

It may depend on the browser and/or some plugins in it, I am getting the same with my Opera.

The two links to the actual .exe's:

http://www.technical-assistance.co.uk/drivers/nusb320-Eng-98FE.exe

http://www.technical-assistance.co.uk/drivers/nusb33e.exe

Resolve in the browser address to:

http://www.technical-assistance.co.uk/kb/usbmsd98.php

Srware Iron works.

Anyway find attached the nusb33.exe file (this is for the Windows 98 SE)

nusb33e.exe

You're probably right, but I bet on the plugins, because my totally plain-vanilla Opera 12.15 (build1748) works as expected.

I normally browse the Web using Palemoon 3.6.32 spoofed to version 19.0, which is whence I sent the original post with the link to nusb33e.

I can download the 98FE version without problems. The 98SE version loops back to the page jaclaz linked.

This is under XP using FF 3.6.27. Spoofing the User Agent to garbage has no effect.
