vinifera
I seriously don't know what title is correctbut problem is thismy Samsung DVD RW screwed few DVD'sat the start with "lead in" it blocked and nothing happensafter I force killed burning app, and ejected disc's, no visible changes were to bottom regarding recording, then when inserted in DVD RW back again OS and app burner see them as empty disceven rclick properties show "4.7 GB free of 4.7 GB" (yes I know its unreal size - all winos show this hhhh)BUT, re-using them always fail and when using windows inbuilt burner (yes I never used it too hahaha - I hate MS half baked products)this showstaking as possibility something was written - altho I doubt itSO I need some sort of program that can diagnose or read or show, what the hell is on those failed discs - if possibleor if they exist ? jaclaz
I don't get it.The image posted on the right seems to show how a 3 Gb file is actually on the disc.It is possible that only the indexing records for it are actually written to the DVD (and this would be compatible with the disc shoeing no "written" area as it would probably be too small to be viewable). You can use a disk editor to inspect the device at sector level, personally I would first make a dd-like copy of it and inspect the image. One of these (or both) should do:http://www.dubaron.com/cd2iso/http://dubaron.com/diskimage/But if the disc is a DVD (not DVD RW), whatever the reason, it is hosed.I would rather risk "sacrifying" another DVD disc trying to burn it with a surely working burning program (IMGBURN):http://www.imgburn.com/using ANOTHER "source" (as to be able to exclude actual hardware issues of the drive and verify that it is a possible source/burning app issue). You can also try DVDisaster on the disc that (as a "side" feature) should be able to show you graphically the written areas:http://dvdisaster.net/en/index.htmljaclaz Edited January 30, 2013 by jaclaz
vinifera
ah nice, thank you, will try those proggiesI don't get it.The image posted on the right seems to show how a 3 Gb file is actually on the disc.no the right image shows properties of 2 movies on harddrive that try to be burned on "empty" DVDthey are both 3.12 GB, so they are smaller than "empty" DVD shown which MS's burner asks then for additional 1 GB for whoever knows why
submix8c
Attempt to Full Erase the DVD-RW (perhaps with IMGBURN). May or May Not work... I've had goof-ups like this as well. Be SURE that you fully eject and reinsert the DVD-RW and use (insurance step) the SHIFT key to prevent AutoPlay then fire up IMGBURN to erase.HTH
