Aero Glass for Win8 RC4

Do I create a folder called "AeroRP" also and put it into the themes folder? Or what?

The "Aero" folder from the RP must be renamed to "AeroRP". The theme file must also be renamed to "AeroRP". Do the modifications to the theme file, and it should work.

OH! That makes a LOT more sense! Thanks, I'll report back if It does or does not work. Thanks!

[EDIT]

It still wont let me edit the files in the themes folder. And if I edit them outside the folder it puts the windows basic theme on. I have the same Windows 8 Build as you too so i don't know what is going on

[is it the same as in creating an aerolite.mmsstyles theme with notepad? just puting in the text in the picture? Sorry I am new to this and don't want to screw up my computer. Its brand new.

Kind of. You still need to patch your system since this is considered a customized theme. I recommend either UxTheme (http://www.softpedia...tiPatcher.shtml), or UxStyle (http://uxstyle.com/b...mental_bits.zip).

Actually, you don't even need to patch your system. The actual theme file used in the release preview is in the same file format as the current build. Since the theme for Release Preview was digitally signed by Microsoft, that means you can use the real .msstyles file from Windows 8 Release Preview in Windows 8 RTM without patching of any kind. Note, this only works in the release preview.

Wait so are you saying its not possible at all to do it in the rtm version? I have seen youtubers use it and their build was 9200 like mine. Unless automatic updates changed it (which I doubt)

Can we keep this thread on topic please, you can make a new thread for your theme issues.

downloaded that - you dont say which version the 2 files should be added to - so initally installed 0.4 and added the new files - nothing - no aero

then reinstalled 0.3 and overwrote the files in that - again nothing - no aero

debug logs from both

i miss your point - have you modified the file or just overwritten with an earlier version - yes what you posted works but so does version 0.3 - does this have all the latest mods in

Please, could you test this version http://leteckaposta.cz/327417155 ? I need to verify whether the problem is what I think.

P.S. This version just a private debug build with some unfinished stuff so it can freeze on startup. If it happens, just try again ;-)

I replaced the 2 files in version 0.4 with the 2 files in the link and the behaviour is the same: no transparency.

Debug log attached.

When I use the 2 files in the link, I also notice the following errors reported in the debug log:

Lines 8-11:

[0x152C] Failed to open desktop process (error: 5)
[0x152C] Failed to get token (error: 6)
[0x152C] Failed to duplicate token (error: 6)
[0x152C] Failed to impersonate logged user (error: 6)

Line 22:

[0x794] Failed to open desktop process (error: 5)

Line 24:

[0x794] Failed to get token (error: 6)

Line 26:

[0x794] Failed to duplicate token (error: 6)

Line 29:

[0x794] Failed to impersonate logged user (error: 6)

Lines 46 & 47:

[0x794] Failed to open desktop process (error: 5)
[0x794] Failed to get token (error: 6)

Line 50:

[0x794] Failed to impersonate logged user (error: 6)

I hope this helps in some small way.

Same, no errors and no aero, why the f**k is lag if no aero is enabled?

Could you try setting DeviceFeatureLevel to 0x9300 ?

win8aerodbgu.jpg

It works.

But please give me some answers about the lag, win 7 aero runs fine with GPU desktop clock profile... After closing the loader the windows are still laggy
