ThetaEpsilon
This is the first time I've ever dealt with PCMCIA, so I am not too sure what I was doing.A few months ago someone gave me a HP NC8000 Laptop, I figured since the hardware was compatible with Windows 98SE that I'd throw it on there since I need it for a few tasks, and just because 9x is awesome. My main issue is that I have a number of unknown devices as seen in This image. My first guess is that I have to solve these issues before I can even begin to use a PCMCIA card, but that is where I am stuck. I simply do not know what to look to get it operational, or if any of those unknown devices have anything to do with PCMCIA.Is anyone able to give me some guidance/help on what to do? Tripredacus
I'm fuzzy on 9x Device Manager. Can you look at properties of the unknown device to see the Hardware ID?

submix8c
Drivers - whether good for 98 or not is unknown (looks like only 2K and XP) -http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=364184&prodSeriesId=364182&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1093I'll venture to say that the "Generic" in your photo is going to bite you as I believe that's the PCMCIA you speak of (actually a TI and "generic" doesn't work).edit -USB Controller - see this (at bottom) -also this threadModem Controller (odd it shows up here when gooooogle)? -http://wikidrivers.com/wiki/Motorola_SM56and here02Micro (can't remember how to use the ID part to access the Driver link) -http://contents.driverguide.com/content.php?id=190858&path=O2MICRO%2FWINXP%2FO2MMB.INFAHHH! Works like this and doesn't look right(?) -http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=190858May/maynot be any good?http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=1257814 Edited December 6, 2012 by submix8c
ThetaEpsilon
Wow that was fast! I wish I would have asked yesterday when I was having trouble with the Audio Drivers. Yes, that all worked! Infact now it does see my D-Link WNA-1330 card. One last question, would you know if there is software to manage Wireless Connections? The Wireless Driver works fine, but it has no way of knowing which network to connect to / way to type in a WPA2 key without D-Link's Software which won't run on Windows 98 (Something about a reference to SETUPAPI.dll missing WM_DISCONNECT_MACHINE).Thank you so much! It would have taken me days to figure this all out.
submix8c
According to this there should be something for Win98, but the D-Link site doesn't provide it (apparently).I found this that CLAIMS to be good for Win98. It also looks as if thecontents is a CD-"rip" based on the AUTORUN file. Also appears to have Docs. 56mb tho.http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=1447167edit - BEWARE! It also appears to have some "trialware" in it (LARGE files). edit2 - the FTP folder APPEARS that the older versions may be ok (a/l INF says so)ftp://ftp.d-link.com/Wireless/wna1330/edit3 - a file "ar52119x.sys" is missing but this one may work (?)(INF is NOT any good!)ftp://lizzi555.dyndns.org/Download/WLAN/Atheros/3_3_0_156/Driver/HTH Edited December 6, 2012 by submix8c
ThetaEpsilon
I do have the Driver installed, the only thing is the Connection manager software refuses to run. Edit: But that's okay, I just dug out a really long Ethernet cord and connected via that. I'll just look for another wireless card that is compatible at a later time. Thanks to everyone for all your help! I'll finally be able to do some 98 Specific work.
