using multiple network adapters

Recommended Posts

I want to use two separate network adapters to route traffic over the internet.

Adapter 1: is a wireless adapter that is currently in use on the laptop. It should route all traffic that is not specifically bridged to adapter 2

Adapter 2: is an aircard that I want to bridge all virtual machine traffic (Virtual Box) to the internet. (i.e. VM traffic should not go over adapter 1)

However, when I start my aircard, it shuts down my wifi adapter. How do I keep both enabled and functioning as described above?

Thanks!!

Specs:

XP Pro SP3

Dell E6410

Verizon Air Card

Both are on different networks.

Adapter 1 (wifi): is running DHCP as it travels from LAN to LAN

Adapter 2 (aircard): is also running DHCP, but is getting it's IP from Verizon's DHCP servers.

I can bridge the connections successfully. The only real problem is starting the aircard disables the wifi adapter....

Do you know how to stop that behavior?

Only if the aircard software has a way to do so. I had the same problem with Sprint's aircard software (it doesn't like ANY other net connections when it's active), but the feature can be disabled in their software. If you can't disable it for your aircard, it's not a Windows issue, so you may be out of luck.
