matejdro2 Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Well, I guess I wrote my post in a dumb way. I meant to say if he can provide more info on what he done OR iso.
Kullenen_Ask Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 Used dism. Made a windows 8 embedded thin client template wim. Compared files and removed differences.
matejdro2 Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 When I tried to use DISM last time with /Remove-ProvisionedAppxPackage, it froze and keep using ram, until it used all 8GB and then crashed. Maybe I screwed something in image?
rorygilmore Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Used dism. Made a windows 8 embedded thin client template wim. Compared files and removed differences. Care to expand on that a little?Where did you find this template?
Kullenen_Ask Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 There is predefined templates in embedded standart toolkit iso. Also can use x86 runtime to install with that templates.
bphlpt Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 This might be a dumb question, but if you compare the files in the embedded standard template to the files in the standard full install.wim and removed the differences, how is that different than just installing the embedded OS to begin with? Why go to all the extra work? What does that get you as an advantage? Sorry for not quite "getting" this, but it sounds intriguing enough for me to ask for clarification, and I know you have a reputation for being good with slimming, Kullenen_Ask, so you're the guy to ask.Cheers and Regards
Kullenen_Ask Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 (edited) There is big difference. It is not only finish with comparing removing. There is really hard work. First of all i could not capture the installed thin pc image sysprep or without it and use as install.wim As i see that most of drivers absent for normal usage. I put drivers back again. Also embedded has it's own packages, manifest, winsxs folder "emb". There is a big folder comparasion but it is usefull at winsxs removal. I already said that how i did it, i do not have manual, how to, it was just for to clarify my method. And i also should say that my wim is not embedded wim, it is pure consumer preview with everything and all files. I also had hybrid editions before but this is not. bphlpt Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Thanks. Sounds like your method, while proven, is not for the beginner.Cheers and Regards
MaASoftware Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 how we can change the windows 8 slide effects please help meeeeeeeeeee??????
StupidBatch Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 Does anyone want to start a private or public pastebin / googledoc / etc for merging what is removable in what way with a list of the packages? Certain packages have changed slightly, and there are many new ones. Some labels / descriptions are cryptic, even in Lego's WinKit. Also, possibly figuring out what errors from vLite / RT7lite (there are a few reasons to use those two, if the final product is compatible, and it seems to function by extracting the wim / applying then loading).
aviv00 Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 heysomeone try reduce with vlite ?its kills the metro apps any solution for this ?
medoinlove Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Hi, Windows 8 consumer preview version is released. Anybody try out to reduce Windows 8 size? I'm not sure if the method for Windows 7 lite is workable on Windows 8.try 7customizer & and xml creator to remove stuffits the best way

Kullenen_Ask Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 (edited) of course there is need expert knowledge about operating system fundamentals. but i worked a lot about winpe stuff. i have general knowledge about files and what they need for. if you change licensing files with embedded standart and windows 8 they are exactly same stuff.consumer preview lite 702mbhttp://photoupload.org/images/35285842017356139157.pnghttp://photoupload.org/images/26556709608563363837.pnghttp://photoupload.org/images/33930850901031856428.pngrelease preview lite 692mbhttp://i760.photobucket.com/albums/xx243/liliactr/rp1.jpghttp://i760.photobucket.com/albums/xx243/liliactr/rp2.jpgit is not so much difficult if you know what you do. does not need any lite program to use. can be done hand made easyly. They are made with embedded file lists and windows 8 file compare method. You can use the lst archive mode in total commander that will create an archive with all the folder structure and files, but not the actual files: http://www.ghisler.com/plugins.htm - DirDisk or DirDisk Extended plugin must be installed in Total Commander.I think many of us would appreciate it Thanks,
