Wifi Connection Issues

Sorry but I had to start a new topic because iv been having and annoying error which relates to the realtek 8187 chipset.

The following is to the error, this program has peroformed an illegal operation and will shut down. My drivers are fine, it works without opening the rtwlan program.

But when the program is opened it will cause this error, I hit close and the program terminated. If I dont hit close it will stay open and work just fine, but I'll have that error which I cant close or it will terminate the program. I need this program to switch from network to network.

Here is my error details, I'v already tried reinstalling it and have tried using kernelEX in win2k and winxp. But this software should support win98se because i check the sys requirments.

UPDATE ---- The only issue I have left is this. Other then this problem my system would be error free. I'm not sure if its related but my win98se will shutdown perfect but hangs when trying to restart it (hangs on shutdown screen when restarted)

It does this even if my wifi adapter isnt plugged in. I tried a number of MS patches already, If I can get these problems fixed i'll be set for good.

What is the make and model of this Wifi card? Is this an addon PCI/ISA card for desktop PC's? There could be a conflict with another driver or app (or maybe even another hardware installed). Or you could be using a driver that is not quite right. Looking in Device Manager might also help.

Its a Realtek RTL8187 Wireless 802.11b/g 54mbps USB 2.0. They are commun on the intrent Alfa USB adaptor on amazon link.

I've had no problom really with its driver, but anytime I go to use its wifi utility it will crash ( well not really just displays that error untill I click ok then program crash )

It helps having the lastest version of SP on here so theres a network icon. But I would like to use that progam, I've tried installing an earier version too. But It always shots me that error. Which says page fault, I dont know if I can tweak any system files in its program folder. I have tried deleting some other files besides mayjor files it needs to run, but it had no effect either.

That sure doesn't apply to Win 9x/ME. And even on NT-Family OSes do beware those multi-fix applications, which, at best fix very little and at worst will hose your system.

Yeah I have always stayed away from those programs. It should be some problem with the programs files or settings. Im thinking an invalid string or commannd in one of the settings file maybe. I have never had this happen before on 98se so its strange.

Another strange problem, computer will shutdown but when told to restart it will hang.

But things are running better then I could have imagined, I am shocked with the graphics on this now when playing games, it runs at full speed with no skips or lagg.

Videos stream along about perfect, Every morning I wake up I'm happy to fire up my laptop. Its amost never boring now, Xp was boring and had no posibillty of improvement since microsoft slowed Xp down with so many services and bloatware, playing games was descent but had no real-time feeling to it. felt slugesh.

I am excited about win9x making new steps towards better computering, after dealing with XP for 8 years Im happy. Keep up the great work guys, and I hope someone will come along with a fix to these problems, thanks
