Can't create bootable USB disk

So as the title says, i am having trouble creating a bootable USB disk with the ISO i created with vLite.

All i removed are tablet and speech support basically.

I am using "Windows 7 usb dvd download tool" from microsoft to do this and it is returning an error: "The selected file is not a valid ISO file" .

If there is an alternative to this tool that would work, i would appreciate it. If not, any other solution?

The iso i modified is one from "digital river content", a W7 SP1 ultimate x86.

Hmmm, have you tried it with the "unaltered" ISO? AFAICR, nLite/vLite use "mkisofs" to create the ISO image. This sounds a bit strange to me.

BTW, there are other methods of creating a USB-install of the ISO.

Searching on the error I get several "hits", one being this that states that Custom ISO's can't be used. and this that implies that the UDF FileSystem is not present (don't know if vLite set that or not).

More about it here. You may want to ignore that tool and use a method you will undoubtebly find here on MSFN. Alternative is to TRY the "tool" mentioned in multiple places.

I learned that vlite is not compatible with SP1, so i just gave it up. Installed with no problems after that.

It was nice knowing you vlite!

FWIW, there's another independent project called RT7Lite. Not sure how many on MSFN can vouch for it as it is elsewhere and apparently still in development.
