TheJoeFletch Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Ok, first I want to say thank you! I can not believe all of the great information and software that is here.My goal is create a stripped down Windows XP and install via USB (like most people). So here is what I have done so far.1. Ripped Dell OEM Windows XP SP2 disk.2. Integrate SP3 with nLite3. Integrate Service Packs (SP3) via RVM4. Strip down Windows XP with nLite.5. Apply DriverPack Mass Storage6. Put on a 2GB generic USB flash drive via WinSetupFromUSB_1-0-beta77. Start the install process and on the Starting Windows screen I get the famous error.0x0000007B (oxf78c2524, oxc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)I have tried the following and I still get the error upon Starting Windows.1. DriverPack Mass Storage (as stated above)2. NTDETECT.COM hack via HEX editor3. Adding to USB via WinSetupFromUSB and Novicorp WinToFlash 0.7.0010 beta. When using WinToFlash, the system does not even boot. Please forgive me if I am missing something or if this has been answered already. I have looked through almost everything here in the forums and I do not know what to try next. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!-TheJoeFletch
ilko_t Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Where did you add the modified ntdetect.com ?If using WinSetupFromUSB 1.0X versions it has to be replaced in the small ISO file on the USB stick if it's already made, which is in folder WINSETUP, or just replace it in your source before using the program to create the stick.
jaclaz Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 As a side note, DELL Oem Cd's have been re-known to be a PITA.This may (or may not) be related, when you create a BartPE from a DELL Oem CD, you need some fixes, cannot say if the same may apply to a "setup from USB". Putting NTDETECT.COM in the i386 folder BEFORE running WinSetupFromUSB did the trick. Thanks for the input!-TheJoeFletch
