Addons Not Showing Up!

Hi:

I don't know if this is the right section for this topic but here goes nothing...

I am a newbie when it comes to slipstreaming etc. I have done a test run using a virtual machine, God, I love virtual machines and wish I knew about them a long time ago as they would have save me a lot of time and trouble not to mention virus issues. Anyway, I did a trial run using nlite and managed to add some drivers and SP3 and both of those installed correctly. I then tried to incorporate RVMUpdatePackSP3_1.0.3.7z and from what I could see it didn't take. I thought that I could use the nlite to add the RVMUpdate pack but wonder if I'm wrong? Do I have to use Ryan's integrator software instead?

Also, while I have your attention I am also having problems using integrating the files I made with the nlite addon maker. Making the cab files isn't a problem, the problem comes in when I try to incorporate them into My slipstreamed XP Pro Driver SP3 disc they aren't showing up! What am I doing wrong???

I thought Ryan stopped making updates packs? There are others one his site though. They should all integrate just fine with nLite. Can you post a link to the update pack that you used?

Upload one of the add-ons you made somewhere (like Mediafire) and I'll have a look at it.

Also, please attach your last session.ini.

Note to mods: Please move to nLite forum.

Hi –X-

I sorry for the confusion I said I was new at trying my hand at slipstreaming and integrating etc. not that the update pack was.

The Ryan update pack I’m referring to isn’t new, it was made around 2009. Here is the link where I downloaded it http://integrator.siginetsoftware.com/index.php?download It’s the RyanVM Windows XP Post-SP3 Update Pack v1.03

Here's the mediafire link http://www.mediafire.com/?74a341vzqe7pwkp

Why do you want to use a 2 year old update pack? XP will be insecure out of the box and you will need to run Windows Update to secure it. I recommend using an up to date update pack( xable has a good one: http://xable.net/xp-sp3-update-pack-download.html) or add the updates individually by using the UDC tool on my site to download the needed updates: http://xdot.tk/updates.html

As far as your Firefox add-on, it throws up an error when you try to run the executable. That's why it's not working. This might be due to spaces in the filenames. Try removing them.

Also inside the add-on there are 2 setups. One for FF 3.6 and one for FF 4.

How did you make this executable in the add-on?

Hi X:

As I stated before I’m new at this slipstreaming etc. as for me attempting to use Ryan’s update pack that is the first one I came across that had a ton of updates that would allow me to do everything in one shot as opposed to me having to download and manually install a ton of updates one at a time. From the name I was under the impression that RyanVM Windows XP Post-SP3 Update Pack v1.03 were updates that were to be added AFTER you had already added SP3 which I had done already. However, I guess I was wrong so thank you for the link to a more current pack which I will download and test out.

I did try make a cab file and install Firefox 3.6 and when that didn’t work I tried with version 4.0 to. As for how both Firefox versions ended up inside one cab file, I don’t have a clue. Wait a minute…maybe it has something to do with me not closing the Nlite Addon maker in between making cab files??? Ooops! :blushing:

Also, you mentioned something about the name of the cab file? Well, the –ms wasn’t part of the file name. The –ms was something I found on the net that was supposed to allow me to silently install that version of Firefox as the my nlite-addon maker only has Firefox .08 in it’s installer database.

I took your advice and took out the spaces in the name and I was able to do a silent install. Thank you VERY much! FYI the -ms code or whatever you want to call it actually works...after I took out the spaces in the name. *doing a happy dance* :) :)

Here’s a link some information how to silently install Firefox 4 in various ways. Please know that I don’t know how accurate they are so just be aware.

Once again -X- thank you very much for all your help with this issue, it was very much appreciated. :)
