new image on reboot

Recommended Posts

Hi MSFN,

We have a Windows Server 2003 R2 with WDS server running with the ability to capture and deploy images to prestaged workstations via PXE boot. It also has an image of WinPE which we use with a script that automatically starts an unattended clean installation of Windows XP.

But we wan't to be able to deploy an image on a workstation remotely, through Active Directory for example. We want to be able to let "Workstation 1" get a new image on next reboot, or each friday, something along those lines.

How can we achieve this? What software do we need for it?

Thanks in advance!

What exactly are you trying to do? Keep a machine in a known state? If so it might be easier to use something like DeepFreeze or Clean Slate to keep the machines that way. If you are pushing out a new (changed) image that often I would look at something that you can manage the changes to the machines through like SCCM.
