Bluetooth connectivity issues

Hello Folks, I have a Sony BMS80 type BT mouse and I use Win7 Ultimate x64. My desktop doesn't have BT capability so I am using a ASUS USB BT adapter. Strangely, which has worked before, doesn't work anymore. Whenever I try to pair them using Devices and Printers, Add Device, the mouse shows up in the list but when you try to add it, it waits and waits "Connecting to device" ... It used to work before, I had to reinstall Win7 sometime ago and since then I couldn't get the mouse pair. I tried to pair it with the PS3, no problems, I used a different USB BT adapter, it didn't work with the computer. How can I possibly troubleshoot this device? Right now I am using another Sony BT Mouse, BMS33, working fine.
