DO you know how to mount images with Dism? There is so much involved here if you are not able to do these things then adding packages might be hard to explain.

If you know how to Mount images then mount the install.wim and run a cmd

Dism /image:C:\zMountDir /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\IE9\IE9-Win7.cab

you may also need

Dism /image:C:\zMountDir /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\IE9\ielangpack-TRK.cab

Dismount with commit

Should I integrate also IE9_SUPPORT.cab?

The direct links for MSU version of Internet Explorer 9 RTM has been provided by ricktendo64 in his post. Thanks. :thumbup

Thus, with the msu version, it is easier for me to directly integrate it via RT 7 Lite or DISM, to a Windows 7 SP1 image. Compared to integration of Internet Explorer 8 to Windows Vista SP2, integrating Internet Explorer 9 is much easier. Quoted below are steps to integrate Internet Explorer 8. Yes, it is redundant and useless to know now, but it shows a clear comparison between integrating these 2 versions of Internet Explorer.

Integrate Internet Explorer 8 into Windows Vista SP2 using vLite:

Extract IE8-WindowsVista-x86-ENU.exe with WinRAR to end up with a .msu file.

Rename the extracted .msu file to .cab and open it with WinRAR.

Inside the that cab file, is another cab file. The cab file, in the cab file is the one you need to use for integration.

So in short:

Exe -> Msu -> Cab -> Cab

The last one, Windows6.0-KB944036-x86.cab is for integration use.

(Or, go to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download to copy the .cab file. ie8.msu cannot be integrated using vLite.)

I can give you my opinion for now, but I hope that other experts like maxXPsoft, ricktendo64, MagicAndre1981 and Kelsenellenelvian can provide a response which is more accurate than mine.

Well, the MSU version and CAB version are the same. Integrating either of them to Windows 7 SP1 image via DISM should yield the same result. However, the current version of RT 7 Lite cannot integrate cab file. That is why I prefer the MSU version. If you integrate Internet Explorer 9 via DISM, it makes no difference in using either of them.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Why should I use the MSU version (btw can't find the italian one) instead of the full version extracted cabs?

There is no italian version, use the english version MSU and add the italian lp

IE9_SUPPORT.CAB can't be integrated!

I've tested to integrate the full IE9 package after extracting the files.

IE9 is integrated successfuly on my image install.wim SP1 only, but not the file IE9_SUPPORT.CAB.

*Edit: Weird = installation fails on my Windows 7 SP0 (85 updates installed)

http://technet.micro...y/ff973977.aspx

When Microsoft releases Internet Explorer 9, will it require Windows 7 Service Pack 1?

No. Internet Explorer 9 will install on systems that have either Windows 7 RTM or Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed.

When you install Internet Explorer 9 on a system that has Windows 7 RTM installed, additional operating system components

are included as part of the installation of Internet Explorer 9.

When you install Internet Explorer 9 on a system that has Windows 7 SP1 installed, these additional components are already present with Windows 7 SP1,

and do not need to be reinstalled when you install Internet Explorer 9.

After a new testing, I see that we can install IE9 full version (with extracted packages) with a clean Windows 7 SP0 without updates!

Test with Windows 7 Ultimate SP0 without updates integrated first (just used the file install.wim for the test):

Integration successfull!!!

  • 2 weeks later...

I have integrated IE9 to windows 7 unattended and it worked well, but at the moment i have observed when i want to download for example from microsoft a file KB*.exe, he passes to another page without prompt me for saving the file and where, then i have to press click here to download in the other page. While in IE8 he prompted me for saving the file and where before he passes to other page.

Any suggest please how to fix it?
