RAGGATIP
Hi,I am wondering if it is possible to slim down Windows XP to fit and run from a 512mb USB memory stick. If so could anyone post an .ini for nlite so that I could slim mine down using your template and does anyone have any links to a useful guide to get windows XP running from the USB stick? Thanks for your help
Sp0iLedBrAt
Yes, it is possible to reduce XP to much less than 512MB with nLite.Yes, you can install it to a PC from USB http://www.msfn.org/board/forum/157-install-windows-from-usb/I'm afraid nobody will provide you with a template, as no one knows your needs from that XP install. Even if you say what your needs are, I doubt anyone will interfere. It's a process of trial and error. Start up a virtual machine, make a build with nLite and test the ISO. After that, reduce or add according to your needs.to get windows XP running from the USB stickIn case you are thinking of installing XP TO a 512MB USB drive, then you have a lot of problems coming your way.Cheers

I guess it would be a win xp live.
Ponch
Check this thread with similar request. As for what to remove, it depends too much on the hardware and use of the OS. And as Spoiled Brat said, nobody's going to do it for you.
jaclaz
Disambiguation:you can have a MUCH lited "full XP" on a USB stickanything that is called "Live XP" or something simialr is actually a PE 1.xYou need to make a choice. Are you wanting to make a "Full XP" on USB OR a PE on USB stick? If #1 there is now a mostly automated way, that is also almost "universal":http://reboot.pro/9830/For #2, the "standard" project is either UBCD4WIN:http://www.ubcd4win.com/or the LiveXP Amalux's "frozen builds":http://reboot.pro/index.php?showforum=112http://reboot.pro/4111/jaclaz Edited December 17, 2010 by jaclaz

Ponch
The link I posted actually ends up in a "Vista like" PE on USB. I guess the equivalent for XP would be something like Reatogo. I never tried to put that on USB but surely it can be done using PEtoUSB. Depending on what you plan to do with that thing, there is plenty of choice.
