WinSxS Folder In Boot.wim?

Recommended Posts

Yes, I'm not a moron and I understand the difference between a WinPE boot.wim and a full OS install.wim. And yes, you can remove WinSXS even from a full OS (what do you think that WinPE image is based on???), but I wouldn't recommend it. You won't save *that* much space in a boot.wim, even if you do get it to work. I guess it would make more sense if you explained *why* you are trying to shave off a few MB from an already svelte WinPE?

i wasnt trying to insult you

i want to remove the WinSxS folder because it takes up about 500mb

and yes i know that WinPE is based on Windows 7

i want to remove all unnessicary files from winpe

becaue i want to use it as a recovery tool

it has DaRT 6.5 Kaspersky firefox auslogics defrag and glary undelete

i want to save as much space as i can in the winPE

so that there is more RAM available for these programs to use

i want it to be a perfect recovery tool

thats the reason you need 1 gb of ram to install windows 7

becasue WinPE is loaded entirely to RAM and WinPE (When extracted) uses 1GB of RAM (give or take a few mb's)
