Ponch
I found a nice "vertical mouse" amongst discarded items. The problem is (common on optical mice) sometimes the pointer would slowly shift by itself in a constant direction which is very annoying (and the reason it was left aside).I know a mouse is cheap but the question is... can this be solved ? Is it due to a dust somewhere inside or an imperfection in the diode or in the transparent plastics ? A heating component ? Has anyone solved this before ? paraffin
Its reflecting off the desk, use a non reflective mouse mat or for a much cheaper alternative a sheet of A4 paper
VideoRipper
I have the same problem (sometimes) with my optical Logitech mouse. It doesn't always happen, so I don't make a big deal out of it, but it might help if you clean the sensor every once in a while. jaclaz
Cleaning the lens and using a pad usually fixes it:http://www.ehow.com/about_5366556_mouse-pointer-move-itself.htmlThere are reports about the actual LED colour/wavelength, but I wouldn't go as far as that:http://reviews.ebay.com/Microsoft-Basic-Optical-Mouse-Drift-Fix_W0QQugidZ10000000004119253From the mouth of the wolf:http://www.evoluent.com/support.htmPointer moving by itselfA reflective surface may cause pointer drift. Put the VerticalMouse on a non reflective mouse pad, such as a fabric pad.jaclaz Edited June 25, 2010 by jaclaz
puntoMX
Logitech made a patch for it's mice some 10 years ago or so, they were just filtering and smoothing out the mouse movement. Generic windows drivers will not do that.Just wanted to ad that, ow, and guys, cleaning the lens won't solve much in this case .
VideoRipper
Thanks punto, I never knew that.In the past I always installed the Logitec driver, since I liked the "Scroll-wheel=double-click" feature, but after having problems with that driver and (I believe) XP SP3 I uninstalled it.(Can't remember the exact problem, but I do remember it became a real nuisance) Greetz,Peter.
