RT Seven Lite - RC build 1.7.0 and Beta build 2.6.0

Recommended Posts

Hi.I have tried to create a good Win7 image these past few days but i keep running into some repetetive problems. These are:

*Input language wrong. The keyboard, input language etc are all wrong despite that i have set them to my language(Estonian et-EE).See attached lastsession.infi and autounattend.xml

*Windows features still shows DVD Maker and Media Center despite them being removed. When i try to enable them i get an error message as expected. At the same time when Games are removed they also dissapear from the optional features list as selectables.

*Problem with installing my scanner(Canon MP110).I read last few pages and looks like i have to keep some components.Anyway take a look at the .inf and offer your opinions.Symptoms are that windows gets into a loop when trying to install scanner drivers:

81805091.jpg

*Anyone knows how to set action center icon to be hidden by default in systray?.Im thinking the setting is stored somewhere in registry maybe?

*Also seems my custom batch file did not run properly.Basicly it calls for several .reg imports:

reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Delete Libraries.reg"
reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Remove Unneeded New Context Menu Items.reg"
reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Remove Favorites From Nav Pane.reg"

I also have a suggestion:

*Add option to set preferred power plan. For example this can be done via autounattend.xml.This particular one sets High Performance mode instead of the default Balanced. The value is a GUID sequence and there are 3 of them. Can't bother checking the other two at this moment.

<component name="Microsoft-Windows-powercpl" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
<PreferredPlan>458ed666-2904-458b-80b5-78fe0bd81f1a</PreferredPlan>
</component>

Few questions too:

*Difference between integrating drivers into install or boot.wim?

*Unable to add protected files in sys32.(discussed in last pages).

Anyway here are the attached files:

Is it possible to simply run RT7Lite to integrate SP1 Beta and do nothing else? I have a working process that creates my ISO but would like it to include SP1. An alternative would be to use a process similar to RT7Lite to integrate SP1 directly using DISM or whatever it uses. I installed RT7Lite on my W7 Ultimate x64 and pointed to my source. By looking at the Registry, I see that both the boot and install images were mounted. I then quit and saw an extended Cleaning Up window. The Registry reflected that both images were unmounted. If I had added SP1, would they have been unmounted with commit? Or are mounted images always unmounted with Discard when RT7Lite is terminated. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, John.

Hi i have made a costumsize windows7 64bit Home premium with intergrated windows updates and drivers + programs/software. using RT Seven Lite Beta build 2.4.0. but if you look at my attach picture, you can see i can chose between 4 windows installation Home basic, Premium, Professional, Ultimta. it could be nice if my seesion file could work with all 4 windows installation, so all my windows update files and drivers ect.. would be intergrated into these installations. right now i can see that in my last session.inf it only works with intergration on Windows 7 Home premium.

it could by nice if i could install all 4 version of win7, with drivers and updates ect..

from one DVD.

i think it has somthing to do with the files below

install.win

install_Windows 7 HOMEBASIC.clg

install_Windows 7 HOMEPREMIUM.clg

install_Windows 7 PROFESSIONAL.clg

install_Windows 7 ULTIMATE.clg

I really need some help here please.

when i make a Image with RT Seven Lite Beta build 2.4.0

does all files like drivers and updates ect.. get saved in the install.wim file ?

and what get saved in the files

install_Windows 7 HOMEPREMIUM.clg

Hope you understand me

Hello Everyone :hello: ,

I keep getting an error every time i try to verify the installation works.

"Setup cannot continue due to a corrupted installation file...."

99kxg4.png

I have tried different sources for the OS files, a physical retail disc, a downloaded ISO from MSDNAA, and another one from a trial disk i have.

The only thing i am doing is removing components, which includes Modem, Printer, Scanner, and Fax Drivers, as well as Tablet pc components and all languages except for Japanese.

I also tried Virtualbox and Microsoft Virtual PC to install the custom OS but still got same error

I have spent a few days searching troubleshooting this issue and i cant figure out what the problem is

Thanks everyone!

Here is my Lastsession.inf, (Click Spoiler To View)

hello there B)

i tried to make an unattended DVD with the 2.4.0 version of RT 7 Lite, the operation ran fine, but the build created won't install at all (using Virtualbox - last version).

if needed, please find the lastsession.inf attached below.

for the details, i integrated 352 hotfixes (from Windows Hotfix repository) and 453 drivers (from Driverpacks.net), and after 5 hours of processing (yes, 5 hours :o :o :o ), RT 7 Lite operation terminated successfully.

Here is a screenshot of the Virtualbox error :

vberror.th.jpg

Do you have more information about my error ?

What could cause this fatal error ?

What shouldn't i remove from the source (looking at my lastsession.inf) ?

Thx a lot !

Error message when loading image loading.

The error message that warns:

"A device connected to the system is not working"

20101017131836_Screenshot 001.png

This is a message that I never appeared in previous relase.

How can I fix it?

THANKS

Some users reported a problem a while back. The problem was that they were unable to assign security settings of files (you know the allow/deny thing ;p, it affects setting the ownership as well) to the user group "administrators" or to their own username because the system said that this user or group does not exist. The problem occurs when the component "Windows Contacts" is removed so please fix it or add a note to that ;)

Thank you, that's good to know. I think an "absolutely do not remove" thread would be helpful. For example, removing telephony results in not being able to activate Windows 7.

Removing Windows Media Manager will render most media devices inoperative. The Viper service tweak for Software Protection, (delayed start, instead of automatic), will make Windows "think" it's not activated. Let's have everyone weigh in with their respective caveats and perhaps we can make a sticky with a list.

Maybe edit this list?: http://www.rtwincust...ed-recommended/

Lately i have had idea that i won´t simply remove anything else other than languages and drivers. It simply takes too much time to troubleshoot and test if i really wan´t to remove other things and in the end i might find some nasty suprise again(meaning something is not working/missing).

You and me both. I still have not been able to narrow down dependencies for a scanner and winSAT, but as it happens, both will soon be important to me. My last build was basically to eliminate extra languages & drivers, with customization and tweaks. Not as svelte as I am accustomed to, but what I need to work, works.

Yes, I know that the developers of RT Seven Lite have come a long way in developing this tool and it still needs significant amount of feedback to make it a complete replacement of vLite. I am sure that all of us appreciate their work. Then again, if such dependencies are not sorted thoroughly, we cannot remove a lot of components off Windows 7 without breaking its function. I guess that all of us agree removing just languages and drivers is not sufficient. I am really hopeful that in the near future, we can somehow safely remove many components.
