I too would like a "classic" skin, the current default strikes me as a tad bright and garish.

Yeah I just would like it exactly like it was before. Looked fine, now everything is big and harder to understand. For example, sticky threads are no longer separate, they are just at the top. It is also harder to tell which topics I have already read as the icons are all different.

Also, it still needs me to log in every time I visit.

I don't have problems with login/logout, never had. IE8, Win7.

I have to agree with you there. I don't like this one bit. I understand the frustration some people have when trying to get someone off an old OS and onto a new one, but this doesn't feel like MSFN anymore.

agree. I hate the new look. This theme is totally unclear und confusing. :no::realmad:

A bunch of people here have...

I can confirm this. Every time I visit MSFN I have to login again, even if I have checked the "Remember Me" box. Even if I logged in 5 minutes ago, if I close my browser and return, I have to login again.

(Win98SE, FF 2.0.0.20)

neat look ... just need a little time to get used to :) thanks!

noticed though in my old posts that formats within codebox that used to appear as intended now doesn't when being (re)viewed (i.e., post #2)

I thought codebox purpose was to prevent bbcode from altering the text inside the codebox (displaying it as typed instead of parsing) in case the contained "codes" were actually intended to be the text. I think you will have to edit your post to use the <QUOTE> tags which do support formatting in IPB 3

That being said, I'm posting to report the code function is not working correctly. Like, what's with the weird colours?

its for code so it attempts to use source highlighting when you type sentences in it it will attempt to highlight them. use

for that instead of code

example of correct sytntax highlighting:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<meta content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" http-equiv="content-type" />
<meta name="generator" content="CMS" />
<meta name="description" content="MSFN - Where People Go To Know" />
<meta name="keywords" content="snip" />
<base href="http://www.msfn.org/" />
<title>MSFN - Where People Go To Know</title>
<!-- Template: news_rss -->

Yeah codebox and code function exactly the same now so the posts will need to be edited to fix formatting issues. Ive fixed this one. PM me if you see any other that need repairing

Looks good xper. I did notice Board Panel isn't up there but I'm sure that will be back. There is a small typo in the footer Recommandations should be Recommendations.

For those complaining about the skins. Give it time to get used to it. As a fellow webmaster I know it works out a lot better than previous skins and is much lighter on end users which means bandwidth saved and many more perks.

From what I can see of the following code you've posted using the standard <code> bbcode tags, PC_LOAD_LETTER, I don't think post editing will do. The difference between the <code> and <codebox> bbcode tags was the prevention of unintentional line breaks. There's no way to prevent an unintentional line break now as shown here and here. :(

either of those can be fixed using the quote or indent tags: (assuming your reader is running higher than 1024*768 and i hope all of us are)

Im not saying that this is "the fix" and that xper wont look at the problem(or that he will). Im just presenting a workaround that will at the very least, get us through the transition period while other issues are dealt with.

Fortunately, the highest screen resolution on one of the PCs I use for web browsing is 1280x1024, but I can't use the whole screen width if I plan on being productive in any way. I'm a proud user and maintainer of older hardware. I don't throw away anything.

I can appreciate that. Thank you for listening, regardless of the outcome. :)
