Steven W
The Win 2K patch for the exploit that's made the news lately:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...05-7d5370263c1bAre its contents compatible with Win98? I posted this in the topic "New IE6-SP1 vulnerability". Perhaps I wasn't clear enough about what it was.... It's important too, so I don't want it missed. MDGx
It should be, usually Win2000 IE 6.0 SP1 cumulative patches work properly with 98/ME OSes.I just haven't had enough spare time to create a 98/98SE/ME fix yet. Maximus-Decim should have a MDIE6CU update soon, just watch his thread:http://www.msfn.org/board/3-t97816.htmlHTH
Steven W
Thanks for the prompt reply...you answered my next question regarding whether or not this should be included in a cumulative update.
Prozactive
As discussed in another thread which I can't recall right off, you can manually implement the update by extracting and copying the following 17 files from the Win2000 IE 6.0 SP1 cumulative security update into \Windows\System. My systems are dual boot but you should be able to do it from DOS.Browseui.dllcdfview.dllDanim.dllDxtmsft.dllDxtrans.dllIepeers.dllInseng.dllJsproxy.dllMshtml.dllMsrating.dllMstime.dllpngfilt.dllShdocvw.dllShlwapi.dllUrlmon.dllWininet.dllTdc.ocx

Steven W
I just extracted files and replaced on my friend's PC...I have an issue:Every time I'd try to post in this forum, I'd be sent back to the forums front page. Had to do this in Firefox. Going through and resetting many IE settings to default helped (reduced frequency) but did not completely eliminate.Should I be seeing "Administrator Approved", on Win98 in this box? CharlesF
Should I be seeing "Administrator Approved", on Win98 in this box?Steven W,I have exactly the same settings ...and no problem to post. You may had added "msfn.org" in a restricted zone involuntarily.Make a search for the string msfn.org in the registry (there is several possible places). Steven W
Maximus Decim has a patch available:http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?s=&...st&p=905305I see he included an uninstall for *978207. @MDGx, I know you'll put this on your site. Would you please still keep the old one too? I have a feeling I ***may*** need it to solve my issue. Edited January 26, 2010 by Steven W
