johnhc
Schicklgruber, I have never used a recovery CD but have seen others here using them - some with success and some not. Again, I encourage you to search these forums for threads discussing using recover CDs, particularly Dell's. Your experience indicates that leaving out the $OEM$ folder will not work. Just a guess, but try going into the Unattended section and Disable OEM Preinstall and see what happens - JUST a wild guess, but since you are using VPC should be a cheap experiment. Enjoy, John. Schicklgruber
Hi all,I have decided to give up on this problem. I don't have the time in my life to try everything, and having the windows xp cd work on other computers is all I wanted. I don't need all those extra settings/customizations. Thanks for the help though,-Schicklgruber
