Ben_j
Hi everyone ! I'm a student and have acess to an MSDNAA, where Windows 7 Professionnal is available, but only in English (I'm French). I can't find the french profesionnal isos anywhere on the web (except on some newsgroups that I can't use). So I tried to use the French Ultimate iso and enter my professionnal key.It didn't work, so I'd like to know if there is any way to use an Ultimate iso to make a Professionnal iso ? I tried with Win Integrator but it didn't work either. Edited August 19, 2009 by Ben_j

Ben_j
Go to your ultimate ISO and modify ei.cfgI just checked, the ei.cfg is good, it's the same as my EN Professionnal iso. So, what to do ?
Mr Snrub
I just checked, the ei.cfg is good, it's the same as my EN Professionnal iso. So, what to do ? If you delete it, the list of all the installable packages is presented, just like Vista used to if no product key was entered during Setup. The trick is you need to be able to edit and repackage the ISO, leaving it intact (I know from experience that MagicISO wasn't able to manage this for whatever reason).Alternatively, you could try something like this, though I've not tried it myself to vouch for it. cluberti
The only other thing to worry about is your Ultimate ISO - did someone make a new WIM with only ultimate in it? You can find out by extracting the ISO to disk, remove ei.cfg completely, and use oscdimg to re-ISO the contents (or you could put them on a USB key, of course). I'm re-downloading right now because I erased the iso yesterday . There's not a lot of seeders today, I think I won't be able to try until tomorrow morning
cluberti
Best thing to do is get the ultimate ISO from MSDN and delete ei.cfg.
Ben_j
Ok, thanks for the advice Other random question : are x64 and x86 keys the same ? i.e. can I use a Win7 Pro x86 key on an x64 version ?
Mr Snrub
Other random question : are x64 and x86 keys the same ? i.e. can I use a Win7 Pro x86 key on an x64 version ?Yes - the license entitles you to have 1 installed copy of the OS, either architecture, and the key works for whichever architecture you pick. Ben_j
I was tired waiting for the torrent to download, so I did an iso out of the dvd I burned yesterday, removed ei.cfg and I'm burning again right now. I already screwed 5 DVDs, so one less or one more... does it matter ?
cluberti
Note downloading a Windows ISO from a torrent is technically not legal, so be mindful of the warez discussion rules (specifically, it's not allowed).
Ben_j
Ok, sorry about that. But I'm using a valid and legal key, and the iso is the same on msdn so I guess it's like making a backup copy for yourself, it's not illegal...Anyway it finally worked yesterday, so thanks a lot for all your help. I think I'll stick around here for more help if I have other problems
