It has to support NTFS and not only create the partitions, but also format them. So it needs to work of a bootable floppy, cd or flash drive.I need it to create and format partitions for Norton Ghost 14 to use.Do any of you know such an app?Best regardsWuhtzu Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

DreamSkape Posted July 5, 2009 Share Posted July 5, 2009 Check out the DOS based bootable FDISK program, a bit outdated but I still use it. It wont accept NTFS... so the best method is to delete all the partitions, create primary and secondary partiions again in FAT32 system, and activate primary partition where you intend to install your OS. It will also format your HDD.Once done, you can convert the partitions to NTFS as you load Windows, where it asks for format... a quick format with NTFS will be enough. I honestly didn't realize that there where a copyrigt violation there!I just thought that they maybe where outdated versions which the author(s) had made into freeware(like UltimateDefrag v1.82 etc.), or that the author of the bootcd had gotten approval for adding those, since i have heard about that bootcd at so many places(legal!), but i have never actually used it, or the apps i quoted.Again, i'm really sorry about this, and i will remove the link imidiately! Thanks!i'm glad that you liked it.if you burned a cd of it, make sure to label it and keep it around just in case.it has come in handy many times for me throughout the years.at times gparted can take a long time to perform some operations, it likes to verify/check things. flyingsilverfin Posted July 9, 2009 Share Posted July 9, 2009 personally i think that gparted on its own CD is a waste of a CD (unless ur using a CD RW) why use a whole cd for something as small as gparted when u can have gparted and another WHOLE OS on it at thesame time? just install ubuntu live, then just run gparted off a cd! it has many advantages, i.e. u dont have to restart every time u want to google a problem (if there is one ) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
